Take it to any place that sells it and give them the cap when you go up to pay for it. You'll have to pay deposit on the bottle though.

One of my friends agree with you, the other doesn't...

How difficult of a concept is this? You take the cap to the store that sells the soda. You give them the cap. You pay the deposit on the new soda, then leave.

WTF? The only part you can disagree about is paying deposit on the bottle. In Ontario you don't have to, but in other places you might.

I don't believe you have to pay a deposit on the other bottle... You might have to pay sales tax on it....the gubment wants their share.

Just bring it to the store you bought it from and give him/her the cap.

Stop being a social pvssy and do it.

They keep the cap to exchange for $$ to their actual soda suppliers. This is nothing of concern to the store owners.

I've never heard of paying sales tax on it. You do have to pay the deposit however.

Well, in some places when you buy a can or bottle of pop, a jug of milk or something similar, you pay a deposit on the bottle. When you go to the recycling center and return the bottles and stuff you've paid deposits on, you get your money back.

Except in Maine, according to some soda bottles. Assuming that's what "ME 5c DEPOSIT" means :p

Oh, and I've seen NJ a few times, too.

And what percentage of people actually return the cans and bottles?

Yeah, it depends on your state. In Canada for example, you don't pay deposit in Ontario, but you are required to pay it in Alberta.

That's besides the point. No return = no money back for you.

If you check this thread, you'll see that it adds up rather quickly.
