I actually placed an order with them a few weeks ago, and the CSR I spoke to said that she could roll me over to this promo instead (which started Friday, 3/5).

you have to consider though that they expect you to sign up for a service thats at least $59.95 a month for a year.
Thats at least $30 over SBC DSL rates which multiplied by 12 amounts to a bit more than the price of ipod.

Their uploads speeds are supposedly better than SBC's so for those who were determined to pay for ipod anyways, this is a good deal for a high-upload-rate dsl.

Note that this is also $10 more than "regular" (read: one without a freebie) Speakeasy service. Since there's an 18-24 month contract, it'll actually cost you $180. This is still ignoring the price difference between "regular" SE and your local ILEC.

ive been with SE since 99' with their gamers package.. while their performance fluctuates throughout the yrs, their CS had seriously taken a nose dive since the beginning of 2k3. their usenet service is now a joke. the only reason im still with them is because of their lax policies on running ftp servers and d/l cap.. (used to average 250g/mo and not a beep from them :D) imo, their higher prices no longer justify their once preminum service..

im seriously considering switchin over to sbc dsl...

MSRP on 15GB Ipod is $299 right? Considering they are at least $10.00 higher then most other DSL ISP's, multiply the differnce by 24 months and you've got yourself an Ipod mini or add $50 for 15GB version. So in essense you're still paying for the Ipod.

t3 is at least 10mbit/sec....

The T1 line can handle 24 simultaneous voice calls.
A T1 line can handle a high speed Internet connection speed of 1.544 Mbps.

A T3 line is also a pure digital line. It is the equivalent of 28 T1 lines or 672 POTS lines.
A T3 line can handle 672 simultaneous voice calls or provide a high speed Internet connection of 44.736 Mbps.

OCs are Optical Carriers. An OC3 is 155Mbit/sec.
