Is it localized? Do I have to return to a local store? I don't think we have a netflix here.

Bfavre, you return them by slipping the DVDs into prepaid enveloves which they shipped to you, and dropping them in the mailbox.

You can cancel before they have the disks back, you just have to get them back to them within 7 days of canceling. Read it.

6. How do I cancel or change my membership?

Canceling or changing your membership is quick and easy. Simply log in and select the Cancel or Change My Membership link in the Account Maintenance section of Your Account. Select the appropriate option from the list shown on the page and follow the instructions to make the changes. If you decide to cancel, remember that cancellation is effective immediately, and all discs must be returned to NetFlix within 7 days. For more information about this policy, visit the Policy section of the Customer Service Center.

As far as in stock items, that's their biggest flaw. I have a queue of 230 or so, and of the first 30, all but 4 are out of stock (but these are anime titles, so they probably don't have many copies to begin with). If you want a particular movie ASAP, you're probably out of luck with Netflix, but if you're just trying to get movies to watch, it's pretty good.

This service is way to slow. It took me 5 days to get my first batch. I figure 4-5 to sent them back before they'll send me anymore. I'll be lucky to get more than 6 movies.

I cancelled Netflix just days ago, after being a member for several YEARS. When I signed up, it was $14.95 per month, for 4 DVD's at a time. I loved it very much - but then they had to go and change things - first it was to raise the monthly from $14.95 to $19.95... then it was to add sales tax (which brought it up to $21.50 or so)... then it was "every movie i want to rent is OUT OF STOCK" - I had a movie on my queue a MONTH before it's release - only to find it OUT OF STOCK the day after it's release. (And no, it wasn't shipped to me.)

In the days of old, their service was second-to-none, but lately, they just suck.

I had to send them a "Dear John" letter on the cancellation form. :)

very fast service if you live in sj:) Like a day for delivery pretty much, i've used them for a year. Their massive selection makes up for their lack of stock on newer titles.. just make a large rental queue, tons of movies out.

The thing is, they carry lots of smaller or older movies, stuff you couldn't find at blockbuster or hollywood video. Without netflix, you'd have to buy these in order to watch them, at 19-35bux a pop, that more then makes up for the monthly rental fee.

Lol, I know what it says, Rendus. That's why I was questioning what Jimbon said. I thought maybe they had changed their policy without updating their website.

I put in one of thsoe free codes....they still cahrged me the first day I put it in...I emailed them a few times before someone was like, that code was just so we know where you came from and not a free month code. Wish I would have had an actual representation of the code's ad. But you can declare some dvd's lost in the mail...up to 1 if you have the 3 rentals and they ship the next dvd once one is "lost."

i signed up with them a few months back. it was ok, but didn't like waiting for the movies. bb has the $20 for one month of dvd rentals, one per day. i think i might do that. go in every day a get one and rip to my hd and watch when i want. you need lots of space tho (i did 4 dvd rips and it was about 6.5g per movie!)...but hey, with all the good deals on hd out there you could put a few on there and then watch when you want!...vroom

wedesdo, that is too funny.
umm, for those of you in the bay area, ymmv, the san fran blockbusters offer 30 dvd rentals for 19.99/mo. The only problem is the selection sucks
as I have seen most of the movies that I would want to see and they don't have old classics or film noirs available on dvd. The other problem is my gf who keeps one movie for a week after it is due b/c she always falls asleep watching movies. She has her own card there now so no more fifteen dollar overdue fees. just ranting pls ignore.

sorry boys and girls...but the p$rn stuff they got at netflix is all soft versions of your favs! HA! it sux! I did try the deal though last year, had no probs cancelling. the service was ok but the 4 day lag, and the fact that a lot of movies were not available when i wanted them made it not worth keeping...oh yeah, and the p$rn stuff was REALLY CHEESY...kept cutting to different scences without showing S$IT!!!

This is definately a hot deal, particularly because it's free. Secondly, it can be a stellar deal for anyone way out in the sticks with either: a) no blockbuster or b)a lousy selection. When I do theatre in the backwoods, you can bet I'll be signing up. There's no way I'm driving 2-3 hours to get to the nearest rentable dvd selection.

Doesn't get much easier than getting a dvd from your mailbox, watching it and then putting it back in the mailbox. Don't have to bother with any postage stamps or anythin'. If I don't watch enough in a given month, no big deal. It's worth it to me for the convenience.

Agree this is worth it for the convenience alone.
I am 3/4 of the way through my free month...watched 6 movies.

It's great not having to drive to Blockbuster at 11:30pm to drop of a movie which is due....just drop it in the mail box....no late fees either ;)

I am also very impressed by their selection, some very obscure films
