<< The RI AG would simply repeat what they, and you, have been told. It sounds like you've been duped right along with the unfortunate customers. >>

Russ
Im not sure if i'm understanding you correctly, are you implying that the RI AG would be 'duped' along with the customers? In this kind of situation, where numerous people were frauded(word?) I seriously doubt that the AG would take NATA's word for it. I would think they would do a full scale investigation. Would they not? And if this explanation is just bullsh|t, im sure they would find out.
So I think maybe if you contact the AG office, you certainly could find out the truth behind it.

RI AG are not going to tell you anything until investigation is completed. This is what Chris Cotta said when I asked him what had happend with NATA.

imhotepmp,

No, I don't think the AG has been duped. I think that, if they'd release any info at all at this time, it would be nothing more then what we've already heard here.

Then again, government bureaucrats are not renowned for their ability to grasp the intricacies of technology, so who knows.

li997:

The owner of that business should be put OUT OF BUSINESS if he left the country for a month with: a)Outstanding orders? b)Refunds due? c)Returns to be processed? d)Repairs to be made? e)God knows what else.

The guy is a complete idiot if he isn't a crook. I hope the RI AG shuts them down. If stupidity were a reason to shut someone down, unfortunately half the business in America would be shut down. But this guy is MONUMENTALLY STUPID.

I'm with chess on that last judgement call.

If he's not a crook, he's so blatently stupid, it's a miracle he can remember to breath on his own accord. He deserves to go down in this indeustry and perhaps continue with the rest of his life as the assistant manager of a 7-11 or deiving a Taxi.

Just for the fun of it, I just ordered a cpu from them online with bogus info. It went through. I used the "call for details" option at the checkout. Why is their page still up? The RI AG should force them to take down their web site.

The stuck me with a 300 dollar charge in early december, and my only purchase from them was a Geforce video card in about march of 2000.

I noticed the charge right away, and after a day of trying to contact NATA, I filed a fraud report with my credit card company and was credited back the amount.

The CC mailed me an affidavit which I had to fill out and have notarized, I also included a print out of their main web page where they have their message, and some printouts from Reseller Ratings as well.

Anyways, my CC company issued me a new card because when there's fraud over a certain dollar amount, they make you get a new card. I had to change my ISP, Long Distance, EGAy, and other websites that automatically bill me, I had to spend about 1 hour of my time working to get all this straightened out.

I emailed Nata, demanding compensation for my trouble, never got a response.

One good point though, when I called my credit card company, I also learned that I was eligible to get an interest rate reduction from 14.99 to 11.99, I would have never known that if I hadn't called. And the federal reserve has lowered interest rates by .5 and will probably go another .5 so that's another point lower on the ol credit card balance.
