Fraternities?

I think the word "fraternity" is derived from the Latin for "free test answers".

So, yeah, if you don't like working for your degree... by all means sign up!

I was President of my fraternity, Sigma Alpha Mu, last year at Texas A&M University..

it was a great experience, we started the chapter with nothing and grew it to 20 guys with a house

I have a bunch of friends going SAMmy this year. 🙂

You have to be smart about it. I was in Phi Kappa Tau at the University of Arkansas (92-98). About 40 of us in our prime, we were one of the smallest frats. However, that was a big reason why me and two of my high school buddies joined. I formed the strongest and best friendships of my life in the frat, and I have no regrets about joining. When I got married in 2000, I invited seven guys to be in my wedding...all from the frat. We still talk and get together as often as we can, and I work with two others.

For those who think it's nothing but a waste and full of lameness? You have zero idea of what you're talking about. Actually do some research before posting nonsense. Sure, there are the stereotypical frats and members everywhere, but it's not all like that. Not even close.

I got an invitation to be a "Founding Father" of a Frat at my school (basically reopening a chapter). I turned it down.

Instead of joining a frat, I joined the club Rugby team. Same social benefits as a frat, no silly rituals or secrets or gay greek letters, plus organized violence in the name of sport.

FTW!

What about the rest of you guys?

Haters are welcome, we don't really care about you guys anyway 😀

Matters what school you go to.

My brother went to the university of Dayton. As a senior, he won the school, party school of the country according to Playboy. He helped 🙂 it wasn't because of the frats. So, frats there are kind of a waste of time.

Where I went to school, they were popular and made sense joining.

I pledged and quit pledging less than 24 hours till pledging was over. Hell week started several days before I had 3 mid-terms. I panicked and quit. Biggest mistake of my life.

Yeah, the Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity at my school is almost all girls too.

we're definitely far from all girls, as there were many guys from the older pledge classes.. i figure its like 65-45 female-male, but its definitely increasing in females...

Nice ratio. Very fraternity-esque.

Oh, and I joined the Judo club while I was there. Organized violence in the name of . . . organized violence.

QFT...I was a charter member of the Wyoming chapter. I knew about half of the people in the house for a year before I was asked to join.
