FRAPS recording performance

I seem to remember my 2600K lagging somewhat while recording in FRAPS in BF3 and the 2600K runs perfectly smooth. Is this my imagination or does FRAPS recording benefit from more CPU?

FRAPs isn't the best anymore. Use Playclaw.

Nothing beats a Powered splitter + dedicated recording box.

MSI Afterburner includes built in recording and unlike FRAPs actually encodes it with a codec. Sadly I don't know if there are many codec choices yet. It's free so no harm in trying.
