n an interview with 790 The Zone, Tarkenton called Favre's dalliance with Minnesota "despicable" and said he wants Favre to sign with the Vikings "so he can fail." Tarkenton added: "How would you like Ray Nitschke in his last year [playing for] the Vikings? Or I retire, and go play for the Packers?"

"I think he has been a great flamboyant quarterback, but he has made more stupid plays than any great quarterback that I've ever seen. Look at his final game in a Packers uniform. He blew that game [NFC championship] against the Giants. He's playing against Eli Manning. I love Eli Manning, but he's still not a great quarterback. He's not Peyton yet, or Tom Brady. He's just a guy. And they're [Packers] are playing at home, and they're in a tight situation, they went to overtime and he [Favre] throws the interception that allows them [the Giants] to come back and win the game. He has done that and driven his coaches crazy all of his career."

Damn, what a smackdown! :Q

Fran should probably watch the rhetoric. All great QBs make mistakes but Farves career numbers are much better than his and Farve has something Fran failed to do three times in the 1970s with the queens. Farve has a superbowl ring.

Olds is just pointing out the misspelling of Fran as Frank.

Aw, I miss the glory days of The Purple People Eaters!!!🙁

I agree 100%

Favre has has incredible longetivity and has proven that he can play at a high level, but at the end of the day, his career will be remembered for countless boneheaded interceptions that undid all the "good" he did, and as a guy who could only bring 1 SB home to GB.

Dilfer bought as many SB's to Baltomore as Favre did to GB.

I hope he signs with the Vikes too, I wanna see Clay Matthews Jr. Rip his fvckin head off like Greg Lloyd did in the '95 preseason.

I'd like to see him in a vikings uniform only because he would be the only capable qb on the roster and might be enough to make this team a legitimate playoff team.

Fran Tarkington...Football...NO...he's the pitchman for the sleep number bed, or sounds of the 60's, or some real estate scam on late night TV

cry me a river, packers are the idiots for pushing him out. if he ends up burning them just a bit of deserved medicine.

Favre has made a joke of himself, retiring every year. But I think Tarkenton went too far because his voice as an HOF'er is particularly sharp, but he said his peace and was honest, and he's going to stick up for the Vikings and their fans to his death.

F that yeah right. Rogers clearly outplayed Favre last year and got some much needed experience. The Packers absolutely made the right move.

Rogers is no Favre. Rogers is fragile. He missed more games due to injury sitting on the bench as Favre's backup than Favre did in his entire career.

Well yeah, Favre is durable, he's so hopped up on Jack and Vicodin he feels no pain.
