Someone who is making $2 million is still paying over $1.1 million in taxes. Someone who makes $5 million is paying almost $3.4 million in taxes. At a certain point it doesn't become worth it anymore and you leave or stop doing what you were doing

funny how everyone is complaining about the tax rate when the ultra rich just have loopholes created to minimize their tax rate. also the govt just squanders a lot of your tax money on their political friends and looking good to get votes. like how we spent billions on "improving" our infrastructure by repaving roads that were years from needing it instead of repairing bridges and tunnels that really needed it because repaving a road is "shovel ready". I live in a town where a main road + highway was repaved because there was money at the time and the highway was in like new condition, the main road could have waited a few more years.



the real way to fix this is to have a 2 tier flat tax for personal income.
0-poverty line : no tax
poverty line+ : flat rate, no deductions except for losses in the same year.

once you create a special bracket for the ultra rich you open the door for exclusions, so it is best that they pay the same rate as everyone else.


the reality of the situation is that income taxes are going to have to be high while corporate taxes are going to have to be low/medium in order for a developed nation to grow, unless there is some sort of protectionism.

and to bring in govt spending to match real revenues, not projections. also reductions in the rate of spending growth is not a spending cut.
