Oh for god's sake.

You had to bring up Iraq and make this thread political, didn't you? Now you can expect a bunch of people to flame you and shout P&N!!!11!1! leading to an inevitable lock. Congrats.
This wasn't a political thread from the very first post?

The joke, while I thought it was stupid, was not necessarily political.

Ha ha! Laugh at France.

Well you wouldn't even be free if it wasn't for the French.

I do not understand the predominant hatred towards the French in this country.

It is rather simple if you analyze it. The French hate US no matter what we do so from the US perspective the hatred is much more reactive instead of proactive. France is only an ally when it is convenient for them....they are some of the most arrogant and selfish people in the world. I have worked with many French people and they are truly a pain in the ass no matter how much you try to work with them......they are always looking down their nose at you no matter how completely incompetent they may be. I can get along with just about anyone since I usually go out of my way to do so but it is almost impossible with the arrogant French.

Calling the French government a load of cowards is politcal.

Although it may be political it is still truthful. The French have been struggling with the fact that tey are no longer a World power and are rather inconsequential on the world stage for quite some time but it is rather ironic that they think they can regain that power with the same strategy that lost them their prestige in the first place.....cowardice. Funny if you think about it.

Here's a joke:

How many yanks does it take to change a lightbulb?

We don't know yet because they're either too stupid to know what a lightbulb is or too fat to climb a ladder!

isn't that funny?!?!?!?!11!!!?!?! It's just a joke!

See how jokes can be offensive? think about it.

HA HA. pretty good considering that the lightbulb was invented byThomas Edison...an American.

GOOD ONE!

Hmmm... where to start? How did the French lose their power through cowerdice? Have you ever heard of Algeria?

Furthermore, how does working with French people who are a 'pain in the ass' make a difference? If they are arrogant then they are clearly in the same boat as you.

Taking a pot shot for no apparent reason is abundant in style?!

It's abundant in something, but it's certainly not style.

I have family that have disliked the yanks since WW2 because the American bomber commanders were too scared to fly low because of flak and so simply dropped their bombs from a massive height with very little accuracy. This resulted in many, many innocent victims as the yanks not only bombed (or tried to) the military target but also bombed small villages and towns nearby simply because of the cowardice of the pilots. America is the country that 'invtented' friendly fire. From this I can understand why there is some hatred toward the americans from the French.

So you've worked with some annoying French people, big deal. You should see how many ignorant, arrogant, shallow americans there are about. Read your own post, for an example. Open your eyes, america has to be the least popular place on the planet!!! Is this for no reason? I think not.

France still has plenty of power. Remember it's part of Europe now... Granted they no longer have control of many of their old colonies, but that hasn't made them bitter in any way. Where have you come up with this BS from?

Go look at Normandie...You think those white tombstones are mostly FRENCH? I think you will be hard pressed to find many Non-American names on those stones. We fight until the fighting is finished. We take care of our Allies. When was the last time America said "No, we won't help you."

Go to hell, I have an argument, but I would get yelled at about P&N.

It's true! If the French didn't help with the American Revolution, we probably wouldn't have won. The French formed a line against the British, and when the British advanced, the French ran in the other direction. The British started chasing them and then the Americans shot all the British in their backs.

And now you know the REST of the story....

my WWII military history reminds me that the americans were the only bomber group to fly daytime missions. pretty courageous to fly over enemy territory in broad daylight.

of all heavy bombers, the americans mostly, 71% of the crew were KIA or MIA.

carpet bombing was first used in WWII. ALL allies used this tactic not just americans. the bombadier scope, while new at the time, was still very inaccurate and they used carpet bombing to counteract this.

so, before you run your mouth about how terrible americans are get your facts straight.

oh my god... where to start... you've obviously watched too many hollywood films haven't you?! You think there were only americans on the landing beaches? I think **YOU** should go take a look!
wow...

Bear in mind that germany is right next to France and america has the slight advantage of *the altantic ocean* in between it and europe. Look at France on the map (you know where it is?) and you'll see that it's of great strategial importance. That is why most fighting (eg the last 2 world wars) has taken place there.

But I don't know why I'm wasting my time with you. You obviously have very little idea about these sort of things. You best just stick with your purile racist jokes since it seems all you're actually capable of.

Come back when you have something intelligent to say.

And, yeah, so it was that, and France hated them all ?cause Southern France was collaborating with the Germans, embarrassing! So since then, they've been kind of spiky and kind of, French... I'm very positive on the French, my family way back was French, so I go with it, but they are kind of, well, f*cking French at times...

"All of Europe, you must do this!"

"Well? we're not gonna! We're gonna have a sandwich."

I wasn't even going to post in this thread until I saw this post you ignorant sack of sh!t. How dare you call American air crews in WWII cowards. You and your "yank" hating family members can all go to hell. Yes sir forced to maintain an unalterable flight pattern in a big, lumbering bomber with flack bursting all around you and the skies swarming with German fighter planes is the ultimate in cowardice.

Statistics:

American Air Force losses- 27,694 aircraft, including 8,314 heavy bombers, 1,623 medium and light bombers, and 8,481 fighters were destroyed in combat

Battle Casualties- 91,105 personnel--34,362 killed, 13,708 wounded, and 43,035 missing or captured

I won't even get on the topic of your assertion that we invented friendly fire. Apparently you think WWII was the only conflict this occurred in.
