being originally from france, I share your opinion; french people are a bunch of slackers (right now the work week have been reduced to 35 hours), unions declare strike as often as they can and people would rather be on unemployement than work (you make almost the same money being unemployed than making minimum wage in France.)
This is the problem of having a country where social advantages are so good, people tend to take advantage of the system.
Oh well...

At least they have a luvly language to offer. :D

And without the French Revolution, how would the world have turned out? Not too good, I'm afraid. :p

Seriously though, even in the UK people are striking. It's everywhere. And recently in the USA with the port workers; hence slowing down businesses. I remember even hundreds of nurses going on a strike here in my region. Finding someone to take up their spaces was no problem.

Its an opinion. I say liberal because of the way their government is. It consists of to many liberal type social services.

as we enter this new age of globilization, France will probably suffer the most. With social services eating at the government's coffers, taxes up the wazoo, and a very rigid labor market, it's going to be extremely difficult for them to compete other capitalist and labor-driven societies.

ok...point taken... My comment was that i do not believe it is enough of a reason to HATE France...
I am the first one to not agree with lots of the economic and social decisions of the leaders of my country but always try to moderate my opinions... Well most of the time at least

Completly agree with that...
The good thing is that the entire goverment is on the right wing right now and they are trying to liberalize all aspects of the economy
So one might hope that this old country will finally agree that times are changing and that it is time to start to evolve as well
