Link to CNN.com article

From the article:
Separately, The Sunday Times reported that its own journalists had found documents in the Iraqi foreign ministry that indicate that France gave Saddam Hussein's regime regular reports on its dealings with American officials.

So that's why France was so against the war...

Just heard on Fox news that German Officials just busted a shipment of aluminum tubes that are used to enrich uranium being shipped from France to N. Korea. Nothing even on their site yet.

France seems to be 4 feet down a six foot hole.

France was against the war because it had a monopoly on Iraq's oil infrastructure and was making a bomb. Now that has gone down the tube french oil companies will suffer

if this is true, then france has a lot of explaining to do. They should be treated as a non-ally and isolated.

Where are all of the defenders of the opposition? All the US bashers? The canadian and EU members here on AT?

You would think finding links to OBL, WMD, and French criminal activity would change their minds.

Your silence is greatly appreciated though, and long overdue.

Hey I'm a Canadian... and I supported the US-led war since the very beginning! Not all of us agree with the decision our government made...

True... Unfortunately, generalizations about certain groups are the norm around here. :disgust:

Maybe there will be enough evidence to try Chirac as a war criminal?

Supplying North Korea
Spying on the US for Saddam
Illegal Oil Deals with Saddam

It's a little different. Shipment was from a GERMAN company (illegally). Germans busted it. Shipment was loaded on a FRENCH ship bound (allegedly) for a third country where it would be transferred.

I don't think those constitute "war crimes".

war crime
n.
Any of various crimes, such as genocide or the mistreatment of prisoners of war, committed during a war and considered in violation of the conventions of warfare.

However, they could likely be held responsible for violating UN policies and resolutions, and have to deal with reprocussions resulting from that.

I like the part where they tried to hide the truth with white out, but we fooled them by pealing it off. Man what a stroke of genius. Those poor Iraqis are just no match for us.

I like to wait to hear the facts, the full non-sound-byte, non-post-war-hysteria facts. Lets face it every other day something "incontravertible" comes along that then gets a "may" or "possible" prefix, which then ends up not being quite what we thought. At the same time the context of many reports is twisted to give the appropriate spin - it's only when the full document is available for viewing that the whole story becomes clear.

I also would like to see found the large stash of WMD (how many thousand litres of anthrax?, VX nerve agent?, botulism? was it again?) for which I agreed that this war was necessary (even if its run-up was a complete and most likely avoidable international disaster IMHO).

This is why I'm doing more watching than writing at the moment. There's a huge storm raging over Iraq - and it's not sand - its post-war justification.

Cheers,

Andy

They know who they are, I wasnt generalizing, just not stating a list of names of people who I would like to see comment on this.

My whole point was that as the evidence comes to light more and more, they have less and less to say, while they had no problem voicing their OPINION before....

Oh NO! Please, not the U.N.!
The UN have proven though this whole episode that they're useless as tits on a boar.
What would the SC do? They can't pass any sanctions becuase of French and Russian veto's.
Add to that the fact that Kofi Annon is their bitch. He's the one administering the oil for food program that was making money hand over fist for the French.

Regardless of how you feel about the UN, the fact still remains none of those can be called "war crimes". You can return to your Fox news UN bashing routine now..:p

;)

Oh, and oh so eloquent one, don't boars need tits to feed their young? That doesn't sound useless to me...:p

That's just my point. You need to hear more than just a sound-byte to understand the situation completely - and with time that usually occurs. Whenever someone jumps on the they did it/they didn't do it bandwagon within 30 seconds of a news item being reported you can take their implied assumptions with huge pinchs of salt.

We'll see...
