Framing a Poster?

I just purchased a Star Wars Ep 2 poster and want it to look really nice, but also keep it in good condition, so I want to frame it..

or put it in something so that I don't hang it with like other posters (ex. tape to the poster, putty to the poster's back)

where would I go? Is there a standard psoter frame that I can buy in any store?

walmart, target, those picture places in the mall. just get a basic frame, you dont have to do anything to the poster, just put it in the frame and hang it

I'd recommend measuring the poster. Not saying your an idiot, but sometimes things slip a person's mind. WalMart will have alot of options. Pick the closest. Or by a bigger one and a matte (might have to visit a craft store or a framing shop; ex. Joanne's or Michaels). Then, you cut the matte to the size of the poster and lay it on the frame glass, then poster, then the back.

We got a print framed in a poster frame kit by the store ($2.50 for labor) - some picture store - for about $40 US. If you want a real frame with matt and proper frames and what not you can pay well over $100 no problem.

hmm.. wow this seems to be getting expensive...

I just wanted like a light weight frame (maybe all cardboard?) just something to keep the poster straight and on the wall.... about measuring.. there isn't a standard poster size?

I used to work at a movie theater and I snagged a first print blair witch poster which I had framed in a picture frame behind glass. It looks REALLY good but it cost 50 dollars (expect that much to frame anything that big). They have cheaper framing options such as putting just a cardboard back and plastic framing on top and bottom which is ok but doesn't look as nice. You could go to any of the above mentioned places, but I prefer either professional framing places or those little art places in malls that also do framing. If it is an actual movie poster (ones that are printed front and back) you could get one of those backlit frames and be a total badass 🙂

If that's all you want go to any framing place or maybe a hobby store and ask to have it dry mounted. This places it on thin styrofoam or board and they vacuum seal plastic over the front. very cheap

I think Walmart has some for about 40$, which is probably the cheapest you'll find for a frame that size. (the glass is what's expensive) I have to get one too for my Indiana Jones: TLC poster I just received. 😀

If that's too expensive, you can get poster hangers, they're only 3$... (scroll down a little) BTW, standard movie posters are 27x40", and replicas are maybe an inch smaller.
