Framerates in Timeshift Demo

I know it's only a demo, but you've got to be kidding! The game is simply unplayable. I'm seeing framerates as low as 17 fps in the subway station at 1920x1200 and I hasten to point out that's a supported resolution. FRAPS shows my frame rates bouncing all over the place but never getting above the 40s, that's right 40s! Oh, and backing down to a lower resolution didn't make things noticeably better.

I'm wondering if the predefined SLI profile is hosed.

All that and the game looks like a cartoon. Looks like another highly anticipated FPS we can scratch from the list.

I don't think it's just you. It seemed to hitch/pause like mad too, and my system certainly isn't that slow (6800GT/DC Opty/1GB RAM). I assume that the demo isn't optimized that well, or something 😕

yeah same here hitched/paused a lot, no smooth game play at all, i tried it with my 6800gs at 1280x1024 "best" detail, 2aa/no af and got between 40-50 fps in the subway, but once above ground i see less than 40 fps constantly according to FRAPS, also i noticed my HD light was flashing frequently.

Interesting, the game runs at 50+ fps constantly for me at 1680x1050 4xAAA/16xHQ AF with max details. Then again I'm using an X1900XTX.

:cookie:...or maybe it just like ATI hardware better

Try disabling EAX and hardware acceleration for sound. They seem to be having some problems with that.

This is a lot like the FEAR demo, a lot of people had problems running that, then when the game came out their same systems were fine.

Really not too impressed with the demo. Looks like with a badass video card it would be pretty, but the gameplay itself, eh, I like lighting people on fire and all, but not too interesting. I've already used the Sands of Time.

Well it would be hilarious if that were the case considering it's an nVidia TWIMTBP game.

Had nothing to do with pity woofmeister.

All that and the demo is all of ten minutes long. The game looks and sounds like a cartoon and offers nothing that we haven't already seen before and done a thousand times better. This game was destined for suckitude the moment the developers decided to base the entire experience around the cheesiest and most overused gimmick in first person shooters--bullet time.

Prediction: Timeshift will be 2006's Pariah.

The framerate is fine on my system however it suffers from constant pauses & stuttering as if its out of memory ,and I mean VERY frequent pausing ..Obviously a bug in the demo (2gb system ram / 7800gtx 512mb).

But even when they do get it sorted out I dont think its going to be a very high rated game ..seemed kinda cheesy :disgust:

yup, the game runs like crap. I have 2 gb of ram so memory isn't the problem here... doesn't look that great and even the mouse lags in the menus!

Even if it did run well, which it doesn't, I would not recommend it to anyone. As Woofmeister said it is only ten minutes long and it was very boring to say the least. Maybe the full game will be more interesting, but you would think they would want to release something exciting to make us want to actually buy the full game :disgust:
