Frame rate problems in World of Warcraft

Have anyone played WoW open beta and have huge lagspikes with a radeon? Im a athlon 64 3000+, ga-k8ns, 512mb corsair VS ddr400, 128mb radeon 9800pro. The game lags terribly in directx. I have tweaked a lot of settings in directx and nothing seems to help. When I switch the game to opengl everything is fine. I can play at max settings 1280x1024. My other computer which is a p4 2.2ghz, 1gig pc2100, and 128mb leadtek gf4 ti4600 agp4x runs the game perfect fine in directx. My computer is not overheating, so i'm not really sure whats wrong. I have read through the wow forums and a lot of people have been having the same problems with radeons. So I was wondering who else have faced this problem and have had anyway to resolve it.
 
WoW runs really well on my Radeon 9700 Pro ... the lag I encounter has to deal with the population of the servers, and the problems with my internet connection the past few weeks.
