why would you want to fragment your hard drive? fragments are bad...

windows comes with a defragmentor that works fairly well.

kazaa is pretty good at fragmenting your drives, but i wouldnt reccomend doing that on purpose.

i have nortan speed disk. that's the problem. it starts up with windows and defragments my hd drive non stop and really slows down my pc. so to fight it, i need a fragmenting program to counter it. i figure they'll cancel each other out and save my performance.

How exactly would they cancel each other out? Fragmenting the drive will make Speed disk work even harder.

Or you could just disable Speed Disk on startup. But you know, that's just me.

Ah. Here is something appropriate for this.
Or the usual.

What? That makes no sense! That's like saying "my oven overcooks my food, so I'll stick it in the fridge after it's cooked to balance things out."

Or maybe, my car is struggling to get up a hill. I'll put more weight in it to make the engine work faster, which can help get it up the hill better.:)

You really shouldn't be using the disk while it's being defragged. Don't run speeddisk on startup - run it only on demand, preferably overnight, when you're not using your computer.
