What I was wondering though, is would it be possible to fit single 140mm Rads. Maybe three of them? Was thinking one on the back, one at the top and maybe one at the bottom?
A 140mm radiator might fit at the top(closer to the front) and at the back but unlikely to fit at the bottom. While the radiator is measured based on the fan size that its compatible with, the actual dimension of the radiator itself would be protrude at the top and bottom. Easiest and non-invasive method of getting a 240mm/280mm radiator into the case would be to mount externally by using a Radbox or Koolance radiator mount.

I was thinking about it more and even if I could fit single rads it'll prob be only 120mm ones. The fan at the back will only allow 120mm anyway. And, as you say, the size of the rad is greater than the size description so 140mm's are a no no.

It's a shame as I'm running 4 extra 140mm Be Quiet Silent Wing fans and was hoping to mount these to rads.

I'll check out your links for the external mounts though, thanks. Despite the fact the Fractal Design R3 has water cooling tube holes out the back of the case, they've made it very difficult to actually fit water cooling! lol

So how stupid/inefficient/unfeasible is this? The fans and rads are 120mm.

This may be a huge thread necro, but I want to get the h100i myself and I also have the Fractal Design R3. It seems you got it working in the end? Did you have to drill new holes, or how did you solve it?

going to lock cuz its necro...

if someone needs it reopened, please contact me.
