I have read this in many places and was wondering if this is infact true. If the US does this, at some point in time many countries would consider this seriously too...

They are about to kill a excellent hobby... not sure why they would do this though.

Yes, the Feline Papilloma Virus is banned in the US. It saves over three trillion cat lives per year.

Banned for commercial use. Rule for recreational use is the aircraft needs to be within line of light of the operator.

United States of America and Canada[edit]
In the United States, on June 18, 2014 the FAA clarified its position and stated that it is illegal to operate a model aircraft via FPV flight.[4] Commercial use of unmanned aircraft is prohibited by a policy statement of the Federal Aviation Administration pending ongoing regulatory proceedings. The Academy of Model Aeronautics' (AMA) official Safety Code's rules (which governs flying at AMA affiliated fields) allows FPV flight under the parameters of AMA Document #550, which requires that FPV aircraft be kept within visual line of sight with a spotter maintaining unaided visual contact with the model at all times.[5] Because these restrictions prohibit flying beyond the visual range of the pilot (an ability which many view as the most attractive aspect of FPV), most hobbyists that fly FPV do so outside of regular sanctioned RC clubs' membership and those clubs' flying fields.

FAA rule
By definition, a model aircraft must be “flown within visual line of sight of the
person operating the aircraft
.”

While it may be fun to send a unit beyond visual flight range; you also then have no real reference to when you are out of control range.
Also, having been a hobbyist; you no longer have a field of view/reference to the surroundings.

Both of the above create safety issues.

Sound arguments... but the whole fun abt FPVs is to go where one cannot go. I mean where is the fun is seeing something with FPV when you can see it as it is !!
