Hello, thanks for reading this.

System Specs:
P4 2.6c (OC 2.8 max)
Biostar IDeq 200T
1 gig (512x2) Corsair XMS Link to RAM
Built by ATI X800XL (from a 9800np that barely oc'd)
SATA Harddrive
Fresh install of Windows XP Pro, then SP2, then newest drivers
I have the latest BIOS
Latest Catalyst Drivers (5.4)

So with my 9800np oc'd, I was getting (in CS_Office, which is a map that I play on the most) indoors above 100fps and in the front yard area between 30 and 60 fps. Now with my brand new X800XL, I get about the same. Both running at 1280x900 with everything high (except for shader), no AA or AF, reflect world only.

I'm wondering why the lack of boost in fps? Is my CPU bottlenecking it that much?

These are two items that I'm thinking of purchasing from newegg
250 watt PSU
As opposed to the 200 watt psu it came with
and
P4 3.0c

I just want to know if purchasing these two items will improve my fps [what I mean by this is that I want my minimum fps to be increased, I don't want 30 fps at anytime, I would like for 60 fps to be my minimum, if that is possible, which is why I upgraded to the X800XL] and if the proc will overclock better than my 2.6c? Also, I would like to know if my memory is a culprit to poor overclocking as well, and if it will hinder overclocking the 3.0c to 3.5? (which would be really nice)

I'm really bummed, because I just spent $320 just so I could play CS: Source smoother and prettier, but instead it's like I didn't do anything.

Source Engine is definately more cpu intensive. You 2.6 is definately the bottleneck. You would need at least a 3.6Ghz P4 before your card bottlenecks.

I'm suprised that you didn't encounter any problems running your rig with just a 200 watts PSU, especially when you OCed your system. That must be some 200 watts PSU. I suggest you spend a little bit more money and invest in a good 400-500 watts PSU now that you're moving on to the P4 3.0c. Many here will tell you that you shouldn't skimp on your PSU.

i kinda felt the same way going from a g4mx420 to a g4ti4400 a month ago. yeah it was prettier by a LITTLE bit, but the frames weren't there. so i used riva tuner to force a dx7.0 path on the card and now its MUCH smoother...

i think he is running a SFF, he can't exactly fit a full size atx psu in that thing.

Yeah, it's an SFF, it's a Biostar Ideq 200T, I'm surprised that so many people didn't know that, but it's all good. If all goes as planned tomorrow I will be hired at a new job and will be in the moneys just enough to buy a new system. I checked with the website that I got the videocard from and they said they would return it for a full refund, no restocking fee! So what I've decided to do is to buy a whole new system. I've got it on a wishlist at newegg, here it is and tell me what you think of it.

Wishlist!

I'm definitely going to overclock, so I was wondering which is better, the 7700cu or the XP-120 heatsink?

Thanks!

p.s. I'm trying to keep it on the quiet side.

More p.s.
I was going to modify my current computer for better cooling and bought 3 Zalman silent fans, the ones for that videocard cooler and 3 vantec stealth 60mm fans. I'm going to modify the antec case I chose to hold these fans, cut the top for an 80mm exhaust, the bottom side wholes will be whatever will fit, the cone thingy that goes over the cpu will be exhaust, 120mm intake in front and exhaust in back, and some 60mm on my ram. How's that sound?
