Many people are complaining about Foxconn rebates on FW. The rebates have very odd terms on the form (you must write several specific things on the back of the envelope, for example) and many people have complained that even when done correctly, it still requires follow up and a long time to receive it.

The rebate for this particular one is a big YMMV, imho (and from my own experience). We were discussing this a bit at the H.

Probably the most common problem is handwriting legibility. When it doubt, fill out the rebate form, then send a second sheet with all of the same information typed. Makes it much easier on the rebate processor. 😉

i don tthink it'd be worth bothering with honestly.
8400gs is not very fast and with tax and shipping the evga one anyway is about $30 after rebate and 8800gts arent that hard to find. you could even go for that $299 8800gts 512mb todya.

It all depends on what you're playing. A 256MB 8400GS will do Counterstrike and WoW all right, but if you're looking for something more playable, an 8600GTS / Radeon 3850 (or 2900XT or Pro) is your only real "stop-gap" as nothing competes at the 8800GT level other than an 8800GT/GTS/GTX/Ultra right now.
