Woot and l33t and stuff!! I just received a bunch of parts for a machine, including the Foxconn 6150 MOBO. Ive got 1x1GB Stick of Corsair XMS4000 and an Opteron 146 thats supposed to go in there...and I was wondering how well everything will play along. I dont have the PSU HDD or OS yet, so I figured Id get some info to see if Ill have any compatability issues. That way I can send stuff back before time to do so runs out. I was trying to find some info on the CPU as well, but nobody in the CPU section wants to talk right now. Where should I even post this, I would like to discuss the whole machine...but all youve got here are seperate parts sections.

Anyone here wanna talk, or all youz scared of teh EliteRetard?

Pcstats has a review of this board. Found a manufacturer's link at newegg. It lists the opteron 146 under cpu support, so you should be ok.

I was trying to get some more specifics on the OCing of this board...Ive heard several times now thats its a decent OCer for the price and one of the best with integrated video...but nothing more specific than that. I was hoping for a guide or something or maybe some extra info.

Im still curious about my CPU...what all the numbers mean...what stepping it is and what that really means...how far should it be able to OC whats its multiplier...uh I dunno I need good info on all my parts. Was hoping here may be the place.

Hi, I have this board in my wifes 'DVR'. Its not a bad board.

BUT, they use a NON-HD sound codec and therefore, screws up that feature. At least her board uses the ALC850 codec and NOT the 880or882 codec which are the high def audio codecs from Realtek. Even the low end 660 hd codec would be better than the 850 it seems.

IT DOES oc quite well. I can get to about a 278mhz fsb before it stops booting. I updated to a newer bios and it wouldn't oc at ALL. I updated to the latest bios and it would OC great.

Plus, with the latest bios CoolAndQuiet 'works'. With the shipping bios it does NOT work. I believe the shipping bios for hers is around Sept. 05 or so.

BUT, the latest bios introduced NEW problems. The worst was when the computer goes into sleep mode, it would wake up with VERY BAD video corruption. So, I had to revert back to the shipping bios without coolNquiet but with stability and still oc's good.

I run the board with a Opteron 144 1.8ghz@2412 mhz and its VERY stable and very fast.

All in all its a good board but it does have its problems. I guess one of the most dissapointing about the board is when I looked on the board and saw the 850 codec. It upset me too since ALL 430 southbridges has native HD audio.

Anyways, maybe this will post will contain some helpful info at least.

Yes it did thank you What kind of HS/F do you have? Did those big gnarly chipset heatsinks get in the way? How well do they cool the chipsets? Do they get warm? Id still like to see a guide on OCin this thing...from what I hear its supposed to be one of the best OCin Micro MOBOs with Integrated video...

Head over to the SFF section hardforum they have an extensive thread about it. It overclocks to about 275mhz so about 2.75ghz max. So, it looks to be perfectly fine for your CPU although the motherboard will probably end up limiting you if you're looking to highly overclock.

Personally, if I was buying, I'd look at the Jetway board or the DFi RS482. The Jetway offers the most features (SATA2 and HD sound) and overclocks well to 300mhz. The DFI on the other hand overclocks better all the way to about 325mhz (perfect for 9x multiplier CPUs) and has a crazy amount of memory timings to maximise what you RAM can do but is otherwise feature poor as it's using the ATI SB400 meaning no SATA 2, slow USB performance while it also has no HD sound although the DFI's sound isn't meant to be too bad.

But I dont think the jetway or the DFI offer integrated graphics do they? With the budget I was given there was no way to afford a video card, so I needed to get integrated graphics for a temporary solution.

the clip on the end of the pci-e slot to hold the pci-e video card in.

in most mobo's it's a retention 'clasp' or something you swing in and out. lever mechanism.

on the foxconn, it's not. it's a fixed piece of plastic with a hole that you slide the video card's edge into. and it then clips the video card.
once it's clipped, it's a bitch getting out.

The DFI RS482 has integrated graphic -- ATI Xpress200 with DVI, s-video, vga, and component outputs.

Ahhh...well Its not gonna be using a video card right now, and even when it does it probably wont be changed out for a very long time. If ever. But thanks for the info, good to know.

Diasper: which Jetway board are you referring to? Does it also have integrated video?

The DFI looks good. It has dvi/vga/component, which is what I want. But no SATA II sucks, esp. since I already bought a SATA II drive. And the ATX power placement between the CPU and rear panel could be a problem with my XP-90.

Just the simple stock Aluminum Retail Hsf. Plenty of room for it. Nothing in the way.

The chipset seems to be quite cool. At least to the touch it doesn't feel to bad. I believe the temp shows in the low 30's?? I don't remember exactly.

But anyways, beside with the few quirts I mentioned in my first post, its not a bad board.
