Newegg.com has a combo deal for Socket 939. It includes: Foxconn 6150BK8MC-KRSHN2 Socket 939 NVIDIA GeForce 6150 chipset mobo and AMD Athlon 64 3400+ Venice 2.2GHz Socket 939 Processor. Cost is $90-$20mir + about $6 shipping. Hopefully this will benefit someone out there 🙂

EDIT: You can get the board by itself for $40 after $20MIR. Plus about $6 for shipping.

Here is the link to the deal 🙂

PS: IF this mobo is similar to the different model I have, then it it is good ocer with alot of ocing features. But I don't know how similar this board is to the model I have.

I meant to say too that the board can be bought by itself for $60-$20 mir. But I do not know whether it would be worth it to invest in s939 if you don't have a s939 cpu and plan to buy it seperately.

Buying this with the cpu would be the better route IMO.

This looks like a good deal. I have a question though. How much more power does a 939 consume opposed to a 754 socket 3400+??

Right now i have a gigabyte mATX and socket 754 w/ddr 400 Kingston value ram. I will just replace the mobo and cpu on that with this since it uses the same RAM i'm assuming.

Well, what model do you have?

I have been out of building PCs a while now. I have a stupid question.

I have an Athlon XP 1800+ PC. Will this combo work with my old cheapy case and power supply?

You didn't say tell us the power rating of your supply, but I'd guess that you'd be better off looking for a good deal on a new case and PS. Fry's occasionally runs the Antec Sonata II for $$49.99 AR. Something similar to that would be great, and you wouldn't have to disable your current, working machine. If you don't want a backup machine, someone you know could probably use it. 🙂

BTW, if your 1800+ is an unlocked T'bred, they're great O/C'ers. I've been running mine as a 2400+ (2 GHz) for several years, and it seldom gets over 43 degrees C on the hottest summer days. 😎

You can use your same ram, but there will be very little performance gain between your 754 and this 939. Yes, it would be dual-channel though.

Thanks, I will see if I can overclock the PC. I am looking for a low-cost upgrade. If I had to buy a PS and a case, I might as well get a Dell for under $250 or jump on an occasional Compaq deal at CompUSA or Office Depot.

It is: 6150K8MA-8EKRS 🙂

I jumped on this - easy install, clean layout. Haven't started to tweak the O/C parameters, but good options in the BIOS that give control over HT, RAM voltage, etc.

Pretty quick even with just the stock A64@ 2.2GHz. Can't beat it for the price/performance ratio if simply saving $$ is your priority.

The 6150BK8MC-KRSHN2 is the "business" version of the 6150K8MA-8EKRS, if anyone's wondering, because it comes with some network security software and enterprise administration tools. Also has DVI out in addition to VGA, but is missing some front panel audio/mic pins compared with the K8MA board.

I have the K8MA board running with an 939 X2 3800+ O/Ced to 2.4Ghz. Runs like a beast!
IMHO, these Foxconn/WinFast boards are great choices for budget uATX builds for those of us who don't do any serious gaming. The integrated 6150 video is surprisingly adequate.

I like everything about the deal except the rebate.

Had just one experience with MyRebates411 and it was poor. Newegg Sapphire X850XT rebate was denied. Submission supposedly missing the receipt which I'd stapled to the page. Got that straightened out by sending copies, and then I had to chase after them again 3 months later to get paid. Expect to do more than $20 of extra work and aggravation to get your $20 rebate.

******
Go to www.MyRebates411.com, login, and submit a new rebate request.
Copy of Original invoice downloaded from Newegg?s website.
(do not send the packing slip or an email confirmation!).
Must write the Newegg.its Item #, the Promo Code #, and MyRebates411 Transaction ID #
on the back of the envelope. Original UPC barcode including Serial number cut from retail box. Label must include serial number or customer will be disqualified

with the price of DDR ram, they would have to give s939 boards away to make them economical. unless you already have the ram, but even then your best bet is to sell it and go ddr2

I went with a Foxconn 690G instead w/3800 x2. The 3800 is a combo with kingston value ram for 104. Unless you have extra ddr 400 RAM lying around i think you're better off going ddr2.

The reviews I've seen of the Foxconn 6150 business-class board say it doesn't have a SP/DIF header, but the manual for this one indicates that it does. Can anyone confirm one way or the other?

I know the other Foxconn 6150 board they have has an S-Video (TV) out bracket. Can someone who has already received this board tell me if this one also has it? The picture from NewEgg shows something, but...

There is a four-pin (ooXo - having one pin-less position) Molex header labeled SPDIF-OUT exactly where the user's manual says it should be.

No SPDIF bracket was supplied with the board; the only bracket supplied has ye olde serial port on it.

This is a multi-product board as there are all sorts of un-populated features silk-screened on it, like firewire.

Yeah, I was telling someone that on Saturday. DDR2 is getting real cheap now. I'm a big fan of the 939, still use one myself, and I will for another year or so. For a new build, one is probably better off going to DDR2.

It seems like this is the never dying combo. Have they been trying to get rid of these 3400+'s for a year now or something?

I think I'm going to bite on the motherboard. My current system is a S939... in 2 years it still would be powerful enough to drive a HDTV with this board... definite MythTV front end potential. I've got a HTPC case lying around anyway. I can't stand letting old parts just sit around like my Socket 370 stuff currently is. The price is never going to be < $40 for a S939 motherboard...

Not from a company that is still in business.
(Plus shipping of $11 here. ZipZoomFly had the Foxconn for $32 after rebate, and free shipping).
