Fox re Murdoch's News of the World

Pointless to try and tie this issue with Fox no matter how much many would like to. The tabloid rags in the UK are on a whole different level of douchebaggery and I'd be surprised if it extended beyond there.

Is there a chance? Sure but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for it.

Fox is dragging itself into it with this type of whitewash coverage. Just goes to show that the lack of ethics permeates the whole News Corp organization from top to bottom. Fox News and WSJ included.

Kind of like how when someone attends a racist bigoted hateful church for 20 years? It permeates their ethics? Kind of like that? 🙄

This shows why having such a consolidated Press is a bad thing. Putting aside FN and News Corp, clearly this is a case where a Story hits so close to home that the motivation exists to misreport the Story. A Free and Open Society can not exist without accurate information. Compromising the Truth compromises Freedom.

This thread is worthless.

The anti-Fox bias of most of the posters here makes it impossible to have a reasoned debate about this.

You guys bash Fox news due to their light handling of this story, but when the NY Times completely ignores stories you have no problem with it.

Need I remind you of the Dennis Kucinich story where the NY Times completely ignored his interview with Syrian tv. None of you seemed to have any problems with that.

Clearly a nondescript member of Congress having an interview with a foreign TV station where he claims to have been misquoted is the equivalent of a scandal that implicates one of the largest media empires in the world, has caused two of the highest ranking police officers in the UK to resign, may involve the UK's Prime Minister, etc.

As usual Pro-Jo, your ability to sniff out equivalence is lacking. But then again, if you didn't have your fairy tale of media bias to cling to, you might have to confront the reality of your opinions.

As a reminder, in that thread, you first claimed that the "liberal" MSM had not covered it at all. You were then made a fool of when it turned out that it had received widespread coverage. You then clung to the only thing you had left, that the NY Times had not covered it. Perhaps they should have.

But this issue with Fox and the Newscorps scandal isn't about a selection bias based on ideology of the news organization. This is about a news outlet avoiding a scandal involving another news outlet that is owned by said news outlet's owner. This isn't Fox not covering say, a gaff made by a repulican congressman. This is a whole other issue of media corruption.

OK here's your chance PJ. Please explain Fox's "light handling of this story". Why are they equating the US government, Citigroup, etc., being hacked into with News of the World hacking into people's voicemails, etc.?

Lighten up! If any member of this forum could be considered an authority on hackery it would have to be PJ.

FTFY since you lied yet again after you were proved wrong about that statement as well. So how do you explain intentional lying by fox news, by saying that NWOT was a hackee, not the hacker? That is 100% a total lie. You cannot get any more balk and white then that, but you somehow believe it.

"Fair and balanced" is lying? Who knew PJ and Fox have something in common.

If they broke the law then they should be punished.

But let's ditch the anti-Fox 'holier than thou" act and remember that US news organizations have been accused or similar things or worse in the past.

The NY Time leaking details of the top secret program to track terrorist money for political reasons.
CBS airing a news story the weekend before a Presidential election that used fake documents to make one of the candidates look bad.
Or new organizations sitting on stories in order to release them at the point they would do the most damage (the Bush DUI story)
The illegal wire tapping of conversations between members of congress too. (The story I am thinking happened during the Clinton years)

Let's just say that nearly every major news organization has been caught with its hand in the cookie jar before.

Sorry, but if you're trying to equivocate bribing public officials which resulted in 4000 (or more) people having their phones hacked to any of what you listed, you're deranged.

conspicuously absents from this thread are all the conservative homers and obama-haters in this forum. You Cons must be hiding behind that keyboard huh? lol

I just heard that the people who are investigating this - Scotland Yard - had their head and deputy resign in the last few days over hiring a former Murdoch person.

Not worth the argument as of yet. What does Obama Hating have to do with this? I am not big on statements like Obama Haters. I really dislike the job he is doing as many do but as a conservative I do not hate him. Sounds like you have a few issues that need to be worked out though.

Because this is a liberal jerkfest and no one wants to step into them middle of it.

The people on here hate Fox news so much that they attack them for how they report the story, but turn around and defend other new organizations for not reporting certain stories at all.
