I think the very problem is that selective news are trounced up and chosen while the reporters are actually actors reacting with disgust or unadultered joy to them.

Some news are withheld and some are pushed beyond the local level to make a point too.

I really don't know much about other US news but i can tell you that just because BBC is big on science doesn't mean that they are a Labour channel far from it, they actually have news that are presented as they are.

I still remember ABC (I think, might have have been a guest host spot on CNN) where George Steffanopolous (Clinton's senior adviser) hosted a debate on Clinton's policies. The left was represented by Carville and Begalla, two of the most vicious attack poodles ever spawned by the left. The right was represented by David Gergen (worked for Clinton) and Bill Sammon (Arkansas Republican, long time friend of Bill, and admitted Clinton voter.) Then we have CBS launching a series of attacks against Bush three weeks before his reelection, attacks so laughably biased as to cause them to fire the producer and anchor after only the first was aired. Then we have ABC launching a whole day to promote the President's version of health care, using hand-picked audiences and never a contrary point of view to be found. This is the state of "fair and balanced" among the other networks.

Consider too the Pew Institute of Journalism's study on the reportage of the 2008 election. They concluded that FoxNews is the counterpart of MSNBC. However the actual results were that Obama enjoyed a 6% advantage in positive reportage over McCain on Fox, around a 50% advantage in positive reportage over McCain on most other networks, and a whopping 96% advantage in positive reportage over McCain on MSNBC - in an election Obama won by 6%.

There's a reason why the left squeals so about FoxNews; it's because the left wants the news control enjoyed by Cuba or Venezuela. Because that's the societal model the left favors.
