Stephen Colbert has aptly described "The Five" as Fox's answer to "The View," for people who find the panelists on "The View" too well-informed.
Why are we talking about guns still? Obama didnt do shit, said the 2nd amendment affirms the right for individuals to bear arms, and nothing dramatic is passing the Senate let alone the house.
People scared of guns will just have to wet their beds for the rest of their lives.
I wish the crazy gun nuts out there would get a grip, Obama has not nor will ever be passing legislation to take away anyone's guns. Boy, have the Republicans sure "ginned" up the nutty base. By the way Justice Scalia gave his opinion on the limitations of what type of weapon could and can be regulated.

So what he is saying "the right to bear arms" portion doesn't mean you get to own a military AR-14 or 15 rifles or high capacity mags or drums. These things can be regulated. In addition the 2nd Amendment in its original context was during a time when there were Miltia's and so it was proposed for that specific purpose "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed".
No where does it say you get to own a bomb, or a machine gun, or a semi auto matic weapon with high capacity mags, or drums. Or any weapon of mass destruction.
A handgun, a rifle are all allowable. But, these things can be regulated. I for one want to see much better regulations concerning guns. What Obama has proposed honestly is really weak and has no teeth.
Well I am glad that it is all settled then. Thank you constitutional scholar!
The fact that you don't understand why what Obama proposed won't even get to his desk makes me question why anyone should listen to you regarding your interpretation of the constitution.
Of course most know why some of the legislation proposed may not make it, because the Repubs and some Democrats that are being bank rolled by the NRA are so afraid of losing NRA support they most likely won't pass these things.

However, a lot of people didn't think Obama would have a second term either...so we will just have to see what gets passed. Right now 55-56% of Americans are in favor of stricter gun control legislation.
Did you even bother to read what Justice Scalia said?
Most Americans approve of tighter gun regulations: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs...-gun-laws-but-tighter-rules-alone-not-enough/
But we've been told that the NRA are just extremist nuts, who's numbers are shrinking, and don't hold the ear but of a minority of the populous.
