Fox News says Ferguson racist eamils are normal in companies

HomerJS

Lifer
Megan Kelly on Fox News declares racist emails like the ones unearthed in Ferguson are normal

Emails such as...
Federal investigators also found that city officials circulated racist jokes on their
government email accounts without fear of punishment. []One portrayed President Obama as a chimpanzee. [/b]
Another included a photograph of African women dancing topless along with the caption
“Michelle Obama’s High School Reunion.” A third joked that a black woman should receive a crime-prevention
award for having an abortion

Here is the response from Megan
KELLY: It’s problematic for so many reasons, not the least of which is there are very few
companies in America – whether they’re public or private – in which if you sic 40 FBI agents on the
company and review every email and every document and every communication you can, between the employees,
you won’t find any racist emails, any inappropriate comments – and then to tar the entire organization
with that, it is additionally problematic.

So Fox News is attempting to convince its peeps that these kinds of racist emails are normal for companies?
Is this just Fox News telling its believers what they want to hear? Your racist tendencies are ok because this is normal.
I know these types of stories have reached critical mass and they just can't execute their M.O., ignore them so
are they just trying to make the Republican base feel good about themselves? Remember that is one of the theories
of Fox News's success, just tell people what they want to hear.

Show of hands, how many of you have received emails like the above from your co-workers? I'll answer my own question, zero for me. Even if this were normal. I don't know why Fox can't see how much more onerous this culture is in a criminal justice system that polices mostly minorities and their attitudes have cover of law.

Maybe there is an innocent explanation, if so I'm listening.

Her point is correct but irrelevant. Of course any large company will have someone, somewhere who will say something inappropriate or racist, that's a fact of human nature. The difference is that unlike the Ferguson PD, it doesn't represent the majority "corporate culture" and such communications would never be allowed to persist and spread openly via their own IT systems.

1. They know that tactic works because they've perfected it. Masters of prosecution.

2. Conservatives are defending govt malfeasance now? Why?! A bloated, out of control govt oppressing and extorting is citizens should be right up their alley.

3. Oh wait, it's against blacks. Nvm! Lololol. If was Eric Holder and some issue with guns, or climate scientists discussing data, that's different.

4. No. I never get emails like this, would never consider doing anything like this. Anyone who would greatly risks getting reported and fired.

Ah, same ol' same ol' in P&N I see.

Carry on.

Racism doesn't exist anymore according to some; and if you believe otherwise, then perhaps you are the racist.

:sneaky:

I would say she is pretty accurate. While perhaps not emails so much, but overall conversation. I know jokes like those in the emails are very very common in jobs I have had. Jokes by all races to all races. Certain lines were not crossed, but just about everything was fair game.

The difference is that the police there are in the position of authority. Jobs and titles like that should be above this and should not let it stand. Any job in the criminal justice department, teachers, little league coaches, etc should not allow this. That being said, the fact is that if you get a diversified group of people together who know each other, often times jokes about race will be said. Along with jokes about anything else.

Really? You've seen jokes like that made and sent between different departments? What about them being sent between different entities altogether? These weren't just racist emails sent between coworkers.

And I'm sure you spoke up to your supervisor about inappropriate emails and stuff, right?

I think what she means is that because some people did it, the individuals that did not do it are not necessarily racist. They may still be racist, but because their co-worker did it doesn't necessarily mean they are. In that line of thinking, I agree with her.

She doesn't do a very good job of having this come across though. Next.

I didn't say different departments. People talking, hanging around each other.

We didn't have supervisors. That's not how things worked. But no I didn't, why would I? Every race there was doing it, and if they were not offended and didn't report anything why should I?

It's not uncommon, and there isn't a "zero policy" to me. If there was in our culture then about every stand up comedian would be called racist. Kevin Hart is about the funniest man on the planet, and makes racial jokes all the time. I don't have an issue with it, and I don't find it offensive. It's all in good humor.

I didn't say you did but it's a fact that that is exactly what happened in ferguson.

If any racist type emails such as the ones found in Ferguson were found here at my company, any person who dared forward it to anyone other than HR would be fired immediately, and those that merely failed to report it would likely get a stern talking to.
