Fox News Kool-Aid..

Interesting article in Salon on the dangers to the mental state of those who watch it:

Would you allow the minds of people to be intentionally poisoned by folk who hide behind freedom if you were among perhaps a minority of folk who had any real idea what is going on? Fox News has polarized American society and damaged it severely. It is the creator of the right wing bubble machine along with right wing radio. Are we not allowing right wing media to create an army of brain dead brown shirt lunatics? Why do we have the freedom to implode? But then, maybe we deserve it. I bet a lot of you think we do.

Fox simply provides a definition to the news that is consistent with the agenda held by the ownership of Fox.

MSNBC tries, it seems, to provide a more bland approach and allow its viewers the notion of 'season it to your own taste'... BUT, what they fail to do is provide all the facts of a case.

IOW, You can spin something or not present something and the result is the same.

Everyone knows the various 'shows' on MSNBC have some agenda attached... Sharpton has his civil rights stuff and Mathews has his stuff but his stuff is as balanced as it will ever get. Maddow is brilliant!
Fox has its similar shows and they too suffer all the same defects...

We simply don't have an unbiased source of News... Not on TV... In my mind the only healthy source of News is not found on either end of the spectrum but rather by digging and digging until you can uncover all the facts independently... which you can't... It is almost like finding the personality of the presenter and basing your acceptance on that rather than the truth... what ever it may be.

meh SOS. I'm sure Breitbart has warnings of the dangers of watching MSNBC...

Except MSNBC doesnt have hordes of people who religiously watch MSNBC and ONLY MSNBC. Fox's incessant warnings and condemnations of the mainstream "leftist" media has programmed it's viewers to distrust any source outside of Fox News. They discourage their viewers from ever considering alternate viewpoints of wandering outside the information bubble created for them. It was certainly great fun watching some of my conservative friends in utter shock when Obama was re-elected since Fox News had them absolutely convinced that Romney would win, but the concerning part is that it didn't faze their devotion to Fox one bit. Cold hard reality isn't even enough to shake their trust in that network, as evidenced by Karl Rove's infamous denial on election night even after the election was called by his own network.

Fox plays on the people's worst and most base emotions, their hidden self hate to turn them into little rage machines with puppet strings attached. This evil because they don't do it to awaken these people. They have created a country filled with angry marching morons.

I don't disagree that Fox News is representing the right and isn't necessarily fair and balanced but what pray tell is considered a reliable media outlet that isn't biased? Those who claim CNN are just as guilty as following Fox.

I think the general idea is that you shouldn't rely solely on a single outlet for news. And Fox News viewers have a tendency to reject all other news sources.

MSNBC had an interview with God and during that interview God mentioned he had created the Liberal and the Conservative, The Muslim, Jew and the Christian....

Meanwhile,

Over at Fox they mentioned that Rachel Maddow invoked a Godly interruption to show support for a communal development... somewhere near the George Washington Bridge.

I personally like the extremes in media bias as I enjoy diversity of opinion...but it's a shame that so many actually internalize this garbage at face value and regurgitate it at every opportunity. It's as if it's become intertwined with self identity and self worth. It's a shame....it's a damn shame imo.
