And you're acting like a pretentious whiner when you do as bad or worse on a regular basis, while supporting those that far exceed my behaviors.

Care to provide examples?

Good luck with that.

I'll remind you that the argument here was between me and Matt1970. You jumped in and volunteered your proud announcement that you think it is fine for people to speculate that someone is faking an illness with no evidence whatsoever.

And the only justification you've offered is that sometimes people on the other side are as obnoxious as you are.

No parent would accept that sort of rationalization from an eight-year-old. So why should anyone accept it from you?

If you want to act like an asshat, at least take responsibility for it rather than blaming your behavior on others.

Its not stupid. It prevents brainwashing and media manipulation of the population like we for example see with Fox News and N. Korean state TV.

Remember in another thread when we discussed differences between Americans and Europeans? Here's another example. We believe strongly in freedom of speech, and don't consider it the appropriate role of government to censor. There are lots of channels, and nobody is forcing anyone to watch Fox News.

The idiocy and trolling in this thread would be shocking to any decent person with half a brain. This forum has become a flaming bag of dog poo.

For whatever it's worth (not much, I expect), I wish Secretary Clinton a full and speedy recovery.

Its not about free speech.

I thought the press was supposed to tell the truth. Hence the foundation on what democracy is build on. Without the truth, democracy is essentially put out of function.

Great theory, except that what is "the truth" isn't always clear. So who is supposed to decide?
Report facts. Not opinion. That is how news is supposed to work. Unfortunately, the facts were so biased against conservatives they needed to create an opinion network to restore fairness and balance to the news world.

Many of those who wished Cheney ill did so because they believe - justifiably - that he fooled the American public into supporting our entry into a totally unnecessary war that cause over 4000 deaths to American soldiers and tens of thousands of injuries, not to mention trillions of dollars wasted. Not to mention his support for torture.

That puts the toll of American lives that can be blamed on Cheney's acts much higher than were laid at Osama bin Laden's feet. Since, presumably, most American's rejoiced at bin Laden's death, why would any patriotic American NOT wish for Cheney's demise?

Yet you think conservative attitudes toward Hilary Clinton are justifiable on the same basis as liberals' toward Cheney?

You cant be serious now? What about all the democrats that supported the war and increased spending, where is the hostility to them or obama who has also killed many innocent people. I dont like cheney since he is a RINO but the only reason the people want him to die is because he is a republican

Exactly.

Its strange to see that there essentially are no defamation laws in the US. It does explain alot. We are basicly back to the state of the most vocal becomes the truth.

Even when that's the goal, it is impossible to report anything on a purely factual basis, especially when the hard facts are not known with 100% certainty.

I would much rather make my own choices about whom to believe and why, rather than have the government make that decision for me.

I dont think you got a choice, unless you watch foreign news perhaps. Else the mass media can simply manipulate you as they wish.

If the fact is not known 100% then it should NOT be "reported."

I would never advocate the government getting involved. It should be a self regulating industry. It used to be that reporting misinformation meant the end of your journalistic career and possibly the end of the entire organization you worked for. Unfortunately, a growing majority of people do not care one bit about truth or facts. They want their "news" sources to tell them what they want to hear. Any failures of the media these days falls squarely on the public that supports it rather than condemning it.

EDIT: After pondering the subject for a hot minute, I think I would be open to the government regulating the label "news" similar to the way it regulates the use of certain marketing terms. Too many gross violations and your company is no longer allowed to be labeled as a "news" source. This could help stem the tide as even genuine news sources feel the need to compete to be the first to report details during a breaking event.

People over thirteen that pay any attention to Faux Nuse scare the hell out of me. The fact they are still in business can be attributed to the huge number of stupid people in this country.

Apologize for what? She was scheduled to testify some time back and never made it, maybe if she gives accurate answers to the questions put to her in the House and the Senate (although the scheduled time seems short) i'll give her a paper *Atta girl!* she can cherish for the rest of her life.
