they have problems with facts. NPR is funded by all types of agencies, including federal agencies. conservative and liberal. It's about the most un-biased source we have in the US, yet the far-right still claim it as liberal "theology."

When they disagree with the reporting of facts, as such facts tend to conflict with the world view that they have imagined in their heads, that cry bias.

The other day, Fox aired a one hour "special" on Ayers called "Obama - The Ties That Bind". It was basically a one hour smear against Obama...trying to imply he sympathizes with terrorists. Imagine the worst smear Mccain could throw out there, then imagine it airing for a full hour on network TV. Ridiculous.

Its not just the media is the message, its the media is its audience, and the internet is the new frontier. I do not think its any accident that right wing radio is so popular. People like Limbaugh and G. Gordon Liddy
have a large following as they preach a simple message using fractured logic.

And I don't think its any accident the left wing radio is a flop. There is just something in those who are more "liberal", if that is the word to use, that rejects the simplistic argument and demands better logic.

But at least on the regulated air waves, a return of the fairness doctrine, would demand that the FCC yank the license of Fox news and also would shut down much of right wing radio.

As a liberal, I am against censorship, so I have mixed feelings. But, its hard to believe that Rupert Murdock and Limbaugh&similar do not realize how thin the ice they are skating on. They are seemingly
going for broke, because their current abuses almost invite and demand strong regulations.

And if they are shut down, they will probably set up shop on the unregulated internet, but many of their followers will be too dumb to find them and too lazy to absorb their message.

As for the current rest of the media, I find it too conservative for my taste, it only looks liberal when compared to the extreme right wing views.
