Fox news is orders of magnitude more biased than the BBC. Any standards of objectivity in reporting the news have long since been discarded by fox. I haven't seen than much BBC, but I caught some coverage of the war on c-span (our government affairs channel). The differences between Fox and the BBC was amazing. Fox was happy reading the pentagon press releases verbatum while the BBC was actually concerned with reporting the truth of what was going on.

Any who dispute these claims?

oh i'm sure there will be plenty. They'll come back saying BBC is just as biased as fox which is total bullsh!t. If the US still had a fairness doctrine for the media, Fox would clearly be the most egregious violator.

So long as these people have seen both channels - at least to some degree - then I'll listen to their views. I have to say that I've only ever seen slight bias to some BBC reports. Not that often and not very blatant. There are often attempts made to question government statements, motives and actions. I do hear from these forums and from friends here who have seen Fox News that it is their opinion that Fox is undeniably the more biased source. I'm listening hear to see if this is correct and if not why.

Cheers,

Andy

BBC shows the news programing the way that they see fit for their viewers.

FOX shows their version of the news the way they want it to be seen,
in support of the views that they wish to portray to the viewing public.
Patriotic symbols and all. A premeditated bias.
They are serving up High 5's for the Rah-Rah Crowd.

News as Entertainment needs to stop! The US Founding Fathers didn't protect the Freedom of the Press cause they enjoyed the Press's musings, they did it because a Free Press is a vital instituion in a Democratic Republic. Though the blame is not entirely Fox's, the continued corruption of the Press undermines the US more than Al Queda ever could.

Most people know that Fox news is very slanted, not to mention they're laughable at times.

The problem is not freedom of speech, it's when you pretend to report the news based not on good journalism but on ratings...this is damaging and should be banned from cable.

The hypocrisy in your statement is astounding.

I have mixed feelings. If we don't have any standards then the debasement of western civ will continue on its downfall. But who sets those standards? And is it fair to have another group to make your choices for you?\

Happily I don't have to worry about england and have no knowlegde of it's laws/consitution. This would never happen over here.

In the free market of ideas all manner of psychosis and abuse ought to be allowed to spew forth on the people. Hate radio should become the norm. It sells product. We should abandon the notion of a free press and recognize that nothing is free. Somebody has to pay and the airwaves have been fairly stolen by a small group of wealthy people who should be able to use them to broadcast any message they please. Freedom and market capitalism demand it. Speech is money and if you have it it's obvious that you have what it takes to succeed in life and your message is the one people should hear from cradle to grave so their minds grow up successful just like theirs. Ambition, personal drive, accumulation and power are what make a man. The message from Fox might as well come from God. How dare you people think there should be objective controls. The wealth class is taking over. The individual is king. Eventually the best man will own everything. He will inseminate our minds and our women. He will lead us to a new day. The era of the Superman will come.

Why, because you don't think it should be aired?

The difference is he is using limited public air waves to diseminate his message vs. some individual speaking. If we own it we/britons have the right to censor it. Almost no-one would argue to allow porn broadcasts for this reason.

What do you mean by "limited public air waves"?

HE is licenced to use public bandwitdths your TV/radio recieves. With such a licence carries certain responsiblities ( in this country regulated by the FCC) not sure about briton.

You can only get Fox News on Satellite/cable. You can't see it unless you pay for it. It's not like the BBC where if you have a TV and an aerial you can always receive it.

Cheers,

Andy

What Europe and America need are a good Nazi station with an expert in propaganda leading it's subject content. First we get the weaker minds, then by fear and intimidation, through them, we get more. Then we start talking WMD in the rest of the world and we're off and running.
