FOX airing Married With Children Pilot episode (Sun 7:00 EST)

They just said on a commercial that the Simpsons pilot is on next.

Holy crap I forgot Bud was literally a kid when this started.

I remember that Simpsons episode very well. My uncle recorded it on VHS and would play it over and over again. I was a Simpsons fan from then until around 2000ish when the show stopped being funny.

The Simpsons were the best during its 'sweet family lessons' era.

Like that episode where Santa's Little Helper was adopted (airing now), or Lisa's bday with Michael Jackson guest starring, etc.

Lisa and Bleeding Gums.

wow what a blast from the past. awesome. hard to believe that the simpson has been on the air for 25 fucking years.

and MWC is the best tv show ever!

all we need now is the Xfiles to round out the old Fox Sunday night lineup.

That would've been awesome.

Watching those, I feel so old now 🙁

I was a late teen when those aired. I remember waiting for some horrible show to come on before the Simpsons aired. I loved the shorts on the Tracy Ullman Show and remember thinking "Wow, this will be weird! There hasn't been a prime time animated show since The Flintstones!" I though MWC was going to be like an updated Honeymooners....wow was I wrong! Sunday nights had me glued to the TV for those two shows. Watching MWC and The Simpsons was a bit like seeing South Park for the first time. There were a lot of "I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY SHOWED THAT ON TV!" scenes.

To this day, the MWC episode where aliens were stealing Al's socks is one of my favorite things ever shown on TV 🙂

My favorite one was the shopping spree 2-parter.

Ha, Simpsons is on. Thank god for time shifting. It's weird seeing a Christmas special in April. Love the end thing they did. "Congratulations FOX on 25 years, we still love you. Except FOX News."

Too bad I missed MWC. FOX has had a lot of huge shows over their history. More so than a lot of the original three over the same period I think.

Am I the only one that has/had a huge crush on Peg Bundy?...

Her attitude sucked, but I wanted to do her.

So many great episodes to choose from. I can't help thinking of Pegs' Gay dancing partner. Between Al sucking up to the Gay Dancers BF for Food and then Al putting the kibbosh on Pegs' attempt to make Al jealous, that episode was especially memorable. IIRC, one of the few episodes where Al actually "Wins" at something.

"So a fat lady came into the store today ..."

So many funny jokes started like that. I felt bad for AL on during most episodes. He was a bit o a jerk but his life was really crappy. Good thing it kept us entertained.
