Better than what you'd have to put up to your face if you used the speakerphone feature.
 
The proper response to this is to let them have cell phones up their ass but require they use these phones. It's a fitting punishment in my opinion.
 
I wonder if they've ever been sitting in the cafeteria, minding their own business... when all of the sudden this muffled ringtone starts playing, and everyone is looking around to figure out "who has the radio". 😛

This is silly, the prison could easily jam all the cell phones in the area.
