Four Loko going to be banned?

I think it's rather funny when people get the attitude that if someone doesn't agree with me, they must be a stupid kid that offers nothing of value. The fact is, this is a perfectly legal beverage. It doesn't use any advertising tactics that aren't used by almost every alcohol manufacturer/distributer.

not to mention the fact that 4Loko has never been advertised on TV

how many Millers and Bud ads do you see over a weekend watching football?

who cares about the science. Adults should be able to drink as much as they want. All these kids getting sick or whatever should have charges pressed against them for drinking underage.

They can take the caffeine out of the drink but you know what kids will do? They will pound a red bull and the n pound the four loko after or better yet they will buy one of those energy shots that are sold everywhere and just dump it into the four loko. Banning this doesn't do anything but punish responsible adults. fucking dumb kids ruin everything. I'm pissed more of them didn't die would at least make the ban worth while.

I care because these guys are mouth-breathing idiots. They market a shitty project, CLEARLY aimed at young, semi-brainless kids that are still at the "beer is yucky!" stage. Ravers, all-nighters, whatever. These things are also cheap as hell--which is perfect for that demographic.

good for them, I say.

But when they come out like douchebaggy canal heads, trying to defend their douchebaggyness with false premises and garbage science, I call them out.

These are people that don't care about their product. They really don't. They're peons fresh out of marketing school, maybe running high off the fumes of their $50k MBAs, that sat around a table, "brainstormed over new sectors to synergize a multi-tiered mass-market product" that they could sell. What's cool? caffeine addiction, cheap buzz, fruity drinks. Kids love the redbull and vodka! It's great for clubbing! fuck, lets sell it in cans, do whatthefuck ever we can to make it taste somewhat better...profit!

Honestly, the ban is obnoxious. I totally disagree with it. I don't mind that the herd is thinned of the idiots that love this kind of shit, save for these dingleberries spouting their retard mouths in front of the press that their product is anything but the machinations of a panel of douchebags selling a cheap douchebag product to wee little kids.

...and lol at "punishing responsible adults."

WAAAAA! I Can't get my shitty caffeine lemonade malt liqour! WAAAAA! If Only I could still find my Zima!!!! WAAAA! I"m such a fucking adult that I drink this awesome Four Loco! WAAAAAA!

yeah. suuuuuure.

False premises and garbage science? I agree their "rum and cola" and "irish coffee" examples were terrible ones but there are plenty of other drinks designed to do the same thing 4Loko does.

I've been to bars that serve 24oz Vodka Redbulls and people are drinking more than one, people drink AMFs and Long Islands.

People determined to get drunk and/or drunk and energized will find a way. As mentioned the Loko drinkers will just buy a Redbull along with their Loko.

What the creators should do is rename it to 2Loko and sell the alcohol drink along side another 2Loko that is the energy drink.

BAM!

::edit::

Almost forgot JAGERBOMBS BROS!!!!!!!!!

so everyone that doesn't like what you like is a cry baby. I get it. I hope they never come after anything you enjoy.

They aren't selling to kids. In fact legally they cannot even sell to retail. They sell to distributors who sell to liquor stores. If kids are getting their hands on this they need to enforce existing laws.

BAM!

Loko energy shots put them next to every cash register in the country. I just thought of that earlier this morning I was going to patent it but I see i'm too late lol. Seriously it won't be long before the college kids and teenies have a work around to get their buzz.

just dropping in to say i'll be enjoying a fine four loko (flavor TBD) this evening before i head downtown for the caps/sabres game.

fuck you if you want to take that right away from me.

no, I'm saying this isn't a drink that responsible adults drink, because responsible adults don't tend to drink wine and caffeine drinks in massive quantities and buzz all night long.

Most people hit that age where they will go out with their buds, have some drinks, have a good time, go home.

If you're still partying all night long and seeking that caffeine, soda, wine-cooler cheap hooch buzz....then you are not a responsible adult.

an adult by age, technically, perhaps, but plenty would question that as well.
😀

How are you getting downtown; is your mom driving? You are a kid, right?

We will take all your rights away and throw your funny face in the pokey if you defy us. How you like them apples?

this is just your subjective opinion of course. My definition of a responsible adult is someone who is gainfully or retired or if they are rich they do philanthropic work. Law abiding. Pays bills and taxes. Thats where my definition ends. What people choose to do for recreation and how they choose to do it doesn't come into play.

1. The labels are not obvious. I saw a can on the playground where my 2 year old was playing the other day. They place is perpendicular to all other writing (the ABV%) near the can's seam.

They do not need to do this as obviously with others because they do not make it look so much like a can of Grape Soda.

2. We are blaming the MFR for taking advantage of the parents stupidity. As I said, I am not for holding them responsible for it, but simply their ability to manufacture and market something that obvious.

let's compare this to another product

Pic Clipped

I was at a festival once, half dehydrated and wasn't in the mood for more beer, or a Coke, so I got a couple of those things. They're pretty dangerous. They taste great, and will get you hammered if you drink them fast. I think they should be banned.

No caffene.

Original was not in bright day-glow cans.

They are yet another meow-meow drink that came out a few years back as an obvious alcoholic drink. They never made any other claims. They danced the line, then pushed it with the Tween cans.

By that time most knew what they were.

I have always laughed at their marketing campaign to try to convince you that it is not a wussy drink and it will get you women....

They are right, but you probably don't want to see what women it got you the next morning.

A friend of mine though one of those was a soda and started chugging it right before he left with his wife and kid in the car.

We had to stop him quickly.

He did not shop for drinks like this, and did not watch TV for the most part.

Dangerous? Yep. But they did not putit in a 22oz+ can and distill it to 2.5X the dosage.

The question is, how concentrated does iot need to be before you draw the line?

Why is Alcohol prohibited under 21?
Why is Opium illegal?
Pot?
Tobacco under 18?

I am not challanging them, but the reasons are usually to try to shelid the general public from substances that can be extremely harmful to them, and others.

Quite honestly, a lot are also ones that cost the general public $$ later to take care of the messes they get into.

so what? it's an alcoholic drink that doesn't have nearly as many warning labels as four loko

this whole marketed at kids angle is bullshit. Yes, as a company I am going to spend millions of dollars marketing my product to a demographic that can't buy it.

And that is not the entire argument.

Yes, you will.

Again, look at Joe Camel and the average starting age of most smokers.

It ain't 18.

Are you saying that kids under 21 never get someone else to buy them stuff? That kids under 18 never smoke? Are you saying that marketing executives are ignorant of this? Denial of the obvious is not a strong argument. You can disagree about the legality, but saying this is not targeted at pre-21 is just silly.

I'm saying that as a company I'm not going to spend the bulk of my marketing dollars targeting a demographic that can only purchase it by jumping through numerous loopholes.

Loopholes which could be closed by parental enforcement.

BTW, where are we getting this marketing to kids angle again? Just from the color/design of these fucking cans?

They also contain 1-2 coffee cup’s worth of caffeine, and health experts say that can mask the effects of the alcohol, resulting in consumption well past the point of drunkenness.

I didn't read all 8 pages of replies, but based on that statement, mixing the two sounds like a pretty bad idea.

Ninja we've requested numerous times any kind of factual objective evidence to support your claim. yet you only continue to spew subjective opinions. Just give us something? We can't have a debate based on subjectivity can we? I'll give a hint:

Claim XYZ because;
- fact 1
- fact 2
- fact 3
