You can add ipod input to Mazda6 for about $100. I did on my Mazda3. Now I can control i-pod from the steering wheel buttons, which you can't with just an aux input jack.
Is this a dealer option or a DIY?
DIY. Pretty simple to do though.

OP, from what I understand, the 2007 Mazda6 has an optional iPod adapter. I put one in my 2006 (wasn't an option when I bought mine). Works great.
Just FYI.

Hm... how do those work? Is it dependent on the Apple firmware? Curious to know if it would work with a Rockbox iPod. And curious to know if they make them for other vehicles![]()

Pretty simple to take out the stereo. Plug the adapter into the CD-changer port. Plug your iPod into the other end (also has 1/8" headphone jack for other things as well). Keeps your iPod charged and can change songs from the steering wheel. Really slick.

So you are choosing a car becasue it has an aux input?
It is an absolute deal breaker for her. No ipod input, no buy.

So... that's a "probably" on "Will it work with an iPod that's running Rockbox instead of stock firmware?" then?

I've never used the Rockbox firmware so I can't say for sure. You might have to use the combination of headphone jack and plug. The plug will definately keep it charged. Not sure if it will allow audio to pass.
It's my understanding that Rockbox will allow you to boot into the original firmware.

*shrug* I'd get the best car then spend $100 on a new deck that has aux.

Just like every other power steering system since about 1985.Originally posted by: Aikouka
The handling usually feels weird, because the power steering isn't constant but adjusts based on the speed of the car.Originally posted by: spidey07
Altima - needs v6, drives price up, somewhat sloppy handling, pricey once features are added. Salemen kept saying "Look! Push button start! We're the only ones that have that!"

Variable-boost power steering is neither special nor uncommon. And it certainly doesn't make handling feel weird.
