Found the girl a new car

No Lifer
This thing is pretty sweet. Rides well, good features, great interior and not a bad price to boot.

We drove most of the mid-sized sedans in this price range and it just has so much value for the money.

G6 - great motor, power, didn't have the REQUIRED iPod input. Dealbreaker.
Mazda 6 - Drives great, superb handling, a little weak in power, a little small and didn't have iPod input. Dealbreaker.
Altima - needs v6, drives price up, somewhat sloppy handling, pricey once features are added. Salemen kept saying "Look! Push button start! We're the only ones that have that!"
Aura - Good power, decent handling, but loaded with a great interior and features. Has iPod input so it passes.

-update-
Got exactly the car she wanted and this thing is loaded ocean mist with black leather. Drives incredibly well and tons of bells/whistles, good wheels/tires, seriously sharp looking car - XM and an ipod input pretty much sealed the deal. Now to install the harmon kardon ipod thingy I got her.

The handling usually feels weird, because the power steering isn't constant but adjusts based on the speed of the car. Other than that, the car handles better than I expected. Although I do have a V6 in mine which may make a difference... I honestly never even thought of the I4 when looking for one so I never drove it.

Push button start is nice though. It seems kind of gimmicky, but it's pretty sweet never having to take your keys out of your pocket.

Any reason why you didn't consider the Accord or Camry? I personally would have gone for the Aura as well.

You can add ipod input to Mazda6 for about $100. I did on my Mazda3. Now I can control i-pod from the steering wheel buttons, which you can't with just an aux input jack.

Is this a dealer option or a DIY?

Exactly. It's an ipod adapter. Allows you to plug your ipod into your car stereo. 😉

Shhhh... don't tell the person that based their decision entirely based on the "iPod adapter" requirement.

It is an absolute deal breaker for her. No ipod input, no buy.

*shrug* I'd get the best car then spend $100 on a new deck that has aux.

You're thinking logically. It's ultimately her decision so I keep my mouth shut and don't say "hey dummy, you do know you can just get an aftermarket stereo with all the features you'd ever need?"

Because I already know the answer - "But that wouldn't be as pretty as the stock one and blend with the entire dashboard."

This entire search has been about what looks and feels good and has an ipod input. Everything doesn't even matter.

Not to dis or anything, I've heard good things about the car.

Guess I'm fortunate, my SO bends to logic... most of the time.
