A sad day. I built my first rig using Egghead. My ATI All-in-wonder came from there (Graphics card with TV and video inputs).

Woah that's a blast from the past.

I was recently going through some old archive CDs and found lot of fun stuff from the early 2000's. Such as the Napster installer, which actually works in Wine on Linux lol.

Also found the code to my forum software I wrote back in the day. It never really left beta stage though, I started college then just didn't have time for myself anymore and basically abandoned it. I did use it as a project though given the work was basically already done.

That borg.loc server is still running today lol, but lot of the network paths changed over the years.

As a side note what the hell happened to browsers over the years. They used to have buttons and stuff like a sane application is suppose to have. Now it doesn't even have a freaking title bar! What is with this weird trend anyway?

I hate csd. The new thunderbird doesn't show my window border, and has a fuckin' search box up top. It doesn't even save any room. I now have a fat ass top bar with a hamburger menu, a search box, and window controls. I don't like hamburger menus, and the search box could be in the main menu bar. It uses more room than the old thunderbird did.

Wow... Egghead! I had some vague reaction there but searching my data I don't see anything. I guess I did no commerce with them. Newegg, yup, plenty.

Egghead was based out of the Seattle area. Nothing good about them. They sold everything at MSRP. They are still not missed.

Speaking of old retailers I still miss Tigerdirect and NCIX. Nothing really replaced them, and it's harder to find computer parts online here in Canada now. I guess that's good for the wallet since I've learned to just make due with what I have already. I used to upgrade just for fun because it was fun browsing the sites and adding all the parts to cart and building a PC that way. Now I just get annoyed at the lack of selection or stock at the smaller retail sites and give up. :p

I use Waterfox as it reminds me of the older versions of Firefox. It's very customizable.

I still like Thunderbird. I used to use Postbox express but it stopped getting mail from Gmail.

Thunderbird is fine enough. I've been using it pretty much since it existed. The style change is just disappointing. It doesn't make it unusable, I just find that fat top bar ugly, and I don't like mousing that high to click main window elements. Might not seem like a big deal, but I've been doing stuff the same way pretty much since I've been on computers, and the muscle memory is ingrained. It's also a good system that works. I have a window border I like, and I want it on all windows.

Been meaning to move to a web based (self hosted) client but have not really started testing yet. I would need something that can manage multiple mailboxes from one login.

Thunderbird is ok for now though and been using it pretty much from the start. I was using Outlook Express before that, back on Windows 98. I recall using other clients for a short period too like Foxmail but ultimately went to Thunderbird and never switched after that.

Wow, I haven't thought about Tigerdirect in years! I just looked in my email & my last order was like back in 2010 haha! Good times! Miss those "hot deals" from back in the day!

I bought the first Diablo from Egghead Software not far from my house. I still faintly remember what the store looked like.

The guy working the store told me what the game was about and basically sold me on it. Was one of my most played games back then.

That must have been 1999. There were a lot more than 16 people on this forum in 2001.
