I don't know exactly, I haven't gone through the process of applying for health insurance as an illegal immigrant. Do you have some reason to think that the Pew Hispanic Center's 40% number is incorrect, and the real answer is zero?

Also, I highly doubt that the illegal immigrants hopping the fence are the ones with health insurance. About half of all illegal immigrants in the US are visa overstays, and so I imagine they get it through their work.

He didn't "round up." There is no evidence he is aware of the actual statistics. We're having the same argument again, and my response is the same. The actual facts about the economic impact of illegals are important.

I have actually amended my prior post to add that since 40% have health insurance, in theory illegals may pad emergency room costs by 4%. Not huge but not trivial either. Then again, nowhere in the country are illegals nearly as numerous per capita as in California. In California, it is a problem of modest dimension. Everywhere else, it's miniscule.

A 3% difference in this case is actually a 42% overstatement of the amount of illegal immigrants there. That seems pretty important.

ALL illegal immigrants, whether they're border sneakers, visa-overstayers, or are here via a fraudulently obtained visa, should be deported any time it's possible.

Schools, doctors, hospitals, governmental agencies, police agencies, etc. should ALL be required to notify the appropriate US Government agency (I.C.E.) any time they encounter someone believed to be an illegal immigrant. Failure to do so should be a crime. Aiding and abetting a criminal is otherwise illegal...why not this as well?

They use hospital emergency rooms all the time for routine shit and cant pay. Without a SSN or legit address or phone number the hospital cant collect.

My last trip to the ER to pass a kidney stone is going to cost me a grand total of 5200 dollars. All I did was lay in a gurney or whatever the fuck they call it now, get some IV fluid to help pass it, and pee thru a plastic strainer. Never even got a stone for analysis so there cant be any lab work.
Spent a total of one hour, 15 minutes. VA is refusing to help even though its directly connected to my service disability cuz I didnt request prior approval for the emergency.

Well, they don't fuck up the system quite so bad as you think. And yes illegal immigration is an issue, but while I believe you were being sarcastic they are actually needed. I live in Georgia for example and as a result of recent legislation a huge slew of crops in the south of the state will not be able to be harvested on time. And even if that wasn't a problem, the logistics in finding, investigating, rounding up, and deporting all immigrants is a logistical nightmare. If the INS came forward and said they intended to step up removal of illegal immigrants with the intent to remove 95% of illegal immigrants within 5 years, but it would cost $1 trillion over that time period, I wonder how many Tea Partiers would maintain their line on fiscal conservatency and how many would maintain their xenophobic attitude.
