Isn't it so cool when the people who employ illegals don't have the added expense of providing health plans, retirement benefits etc. and just have us taxpayers provide that for them through providing gov't social services?

So instead of us paying higher prices for produce and such on the front end, we just pay higher costs off the backend via higher health care costs, education, etc. which these employers were supposed to cover by hiring legit employees that have employer and/or union covered benefits and services.

Crack down hard on the source of income for the illegals. These businesses are breaking the law just the same as all the illegals they employ. As previously described, one way or another the taxpayer gets holding the turd dipped end of the stick while the people who employ the illegals get higher profits for themselves.

This situation creates a transferal of wealth from the middle class and the poor who purchase the products the illegals produce to the rich agribusinesses who exploit the illegals and then rely on these same taxpayers to pay for costs these businesses are supposed to absorb like any other business that employ fully legal employees.

The bill you saw was huge because hospitals have to charge huge rates to cover treatment for everyone without insurance. What the health insurer paid was probably 10% of it because they have doctors who tell them how much the service was actually worth.

So what really happens is poor people without insurance pay nothing, people with insurance and their insurance companies pay together a fair market rate for services rendered, and people without insurance but that aren't poor get charged way more than the service costs to cover the first category.

And illegals are closer to 7% of the CA population, not 10%.

So if 60% of 7% don't have health insurance, then in theory that may pad the costs of emergency rooms in CA by about 4%. And CA has by far the highest percentage of illegals in the US.

Correcting bad statistics on this board is like playing a game of whack-a-mole.
