Found an AMEX blue

Removed the (chip) and on the backside is some kind of memory? There is hard glue that's making photomicroscopy difficult as one can see from the horrible quality here.

You can see the leadwire. If the adhesive is easily removed with the usual solvents (MEK heh) we'll see how clear we can get.

Anyone know about these things?

Well yes it's someone else's but it has long been cancelled and was just some of the unclaimed things that were from lost and found.

Those chips are really big in Europe. They are replacing the strip on the back so you cant copy the card easily. When you use them in a store you have to use your pin like a debit card, it makes it harder for thieves trying to forge your signature. I havent heard much about the chips on US cards, im sure its coming though.

It is called "Chip and Pin" in England and most probably Europe as well. Yes the industry is moving away from the magnetic stripe.

Last week I received a replacement to my Mastercard - the new card has something called "blink" in it. You're supposed to be able to wave the card at special readers, and it registers it, without having to swipe it - kind of like speedpass. I haven't used it yet. Is this the same thing, or something different?

This is Chase's new technology, it uses RFID tags

its the same thing. my college ID issued in 1997 had one too. you didn't wave it, but inserted it in a slot...

This has contacts on it so it's not RFID based.
