found a working CRT monitor in the dump

i went to the local recycling place to get rid of an old Ikea shelf and thought i saw a CRT lying there in the hardware pile among the old vcr's ... took a closer look, and sure enough it was an monitor. it looked clean, so i thought what the hell - it's worth spending a few minutes on it.

took it home, plugged it in, and guess what? it works !
so i unplugged my ancient CRT, drove back to the dump and got rid of it

i'm not complaining, but I cannot understand... why in the world would someone get rid of a perfectly nice CRT??? do ppl just have too much money ???

ahh... the thread can repeat!!!

I was *this close* to psoting a thread about finding an Ikea shelf in the dump.... I decided we don't need that thread.

..I see old monitors..vcr's and all kinds of consumer electronics dumped in the streets and corners by midnight dumpers. We're missing a recycling oppertunity here.

i think the ikea shelf would have been more subtle.. plus it would have helped if one of the replies to the Original thread wasn't "i can't wait to see the parody"

apparently you !!! maybe that monitor was ancient to them, and they upgraded from a DIFFERENT monitor in the dump

Can someone explain for the love of all that is electronic why the fnck people who make parody threads DON'T link to the parodied thread in the OP? It doesn't take much, you could disguise it with a smiley easily enough.

I can't say, but in the last month I've chucked so much stuff to curb while preparing to move I could see me throwing one out.
