Foul smell in the house?

We,re cleaning up the house this morning and wondering where this awful smell was coming from all of a sudden. It permeated the whole house. I went outside for a few seconds and came back in and realised how strong the smell was. I started looking around and realised our propane stove had one of the burner turned on but not lit up........

I turned it off and opened all the windows.

It could have been the 4 years old who turned the burner on or my wife accidentally bumping the knob on the front of the stove.

We had the vacuum going at the time, the wood stove on in the basement, light fixtures turned on, so all kind of possible ignition sources. We got lucky it did not blow up.


Time to buy a propane gas detector.

Next time, spread lime over the the bodies and bury them a little deeper.

That's scary. This is one of the very few reasons that I'm glad we have an electric stove.

This or for now just pull the knobs off the front and put them in a drawer next to the stove.

Both me and my wife did not recognise it. At first I thought it was something really smelly in the garbage. The other day, my wife had the bright idea of peeling onions and freezing them. Every time I opened the fridge, there was this awful smell coming out and I had no idea from what. Then she told me it was the frozen onions, I promptly put them in a garbage bag and put the thing in the outdoor garbage bin. By the time it was garbage day, the smell coming out of that garbage bag was the vilest thing I had ever smelled. Comparable to that propane smell.


There are some good ideas in this thread. Removing the knobs is one.
