Foul language in games

I just picked up "The getaway" for the ps2. I really liked driver 1 and 2 for the ps1, so I gave it a shot.
I had to turn the freakin volume down so that my wife and kids couldn't hear the stream of cockney F-bombs that spewed from my stereo speakers.

What really chafes me is that there is no way to turn off the cussing. I guess those ESRB ratings mean what they say. Its a pity to ruin a good game, or movie for that matter, with an endless stream of explitives.

If I had kids, I would want the ability to turn off gore and foul language in a "mature" game, too bad it's not an option for parent like yourself

well...better than misleading ESRB ratings...


and as for that kind of thing ruining games...sometimes....the violence, language, gore, and sex become the selling point...

i.e.
GTA
The getaway (apparently)
Duke Nukem
Mortal "K"ombat
BMXXX (wow...that one was surprising)
DOA: Xtreme beach volleyball (love this one tho)

i mean...once a relatively controversial game sells well...there are multiple copies and imitations of that game...
so maybe you got something good out of this...don't let your kids play M rated games
