Okay... My best friend gave me his old Fossil watch since he bought a new one today. There's some damage done to it after he found out he couldn't jump a parking meter drunk. Does anyone know how strict Fossil is with their warranty or have had experience with it?

thanks for reminding me!!! my fossil just died yesterday that i have had for about 2 years.. if anyone has experience with the warranty please let us know.. i COMPLETELY forgot about warranty.. thanks

I seem to recall that their warranty explicitly states that they don't cover drunken accidents
involving parking meters...

Like I'm actually going to tell them that's what happened... I'll just tell them I fell in a parking lot because of the snow. I am so smart... S-M-R-T... S-M-R-T... I mean S-M-A-R-T. 😀

S-T-U-P-I-D is more like it:

During the warranty period the watch movement, hands and dial are the only components covered under this warranty. These will be repaired or the watch will be replaced (at the sole discretion of Metro Service Center) free of repair charges, if it proves to be defective in material or workmanship under normal use. A $7.50 return shipping and handling fee applies to all warranty and non-warranty service.

The warranty does not cover:


battery, crystal, strap or bracelet
damage resulting from improper handling, lack of care, accidents or normal wear and tear
Water damage unless marked water-resistant
This warranty is void if the watch has been damaged by accident, negligence, unauthorized service, or other factors not due to defects in materials or workmanship.

If the problem is not covered by warranty or if your warranty has expired, the service and repair charges are as follows:

You're not a Simpsons fan, are you? I also didn't state that there was physical damage done to it. The hour markers were knocked off in that experience for his. As the hands on the watch spin around, they get caught in the markers and stop showing the correct time.

i'm watching for the scratch resistant/water resistant/color/pocketpc/cellphone fossil watch 😉
 
This is how it works, for $17.50 they will change your band, crystal, and battery. Shipping and handling is $7.50 so the total is $25. The only way they will replace your watch, is if the movement stopped working, and they can't find a way to fix it. Physical damage isn't covered under the warranty, so I would just recommend going to a fossil store to get it sent away to get fix, takes between 3-5 weeks, but if you send it out yourself, can take between 2-3 weeks.
 
I had two Fossil watches. Both of them broke:| One from a flooding and another from the hour and minute hands falling off:|
