Gamespot article.

Looks like this game finally has a solid ship date. I say finally because there was nothing but Forza love on this board when GT4 was released. Everyone kept going on about how Forza was sooooo much better than GT4, when none of you had even played the damn game yet. So it has damage, does that make it better? We'll see in a couple of weeks.

I hope for the sake of a nice future franchise that Forza is amazing, but I hate to see all of you get on your high horse and say I told you so when you didn't know what you were talking about in the first place.

There's a neat story about it on popsci.com. They brought in a professional driver and a sports tuner and had them compare the game with real cars on the track. Really made me want to go out and buy a xbox.

I meant XBOX ;D

I think online play is what everyone is looking forward to. Polyphony seriously dropped the ball there.

I think it's Italian for "go team!"

I saw Jean Todt (Ferrari F1 team boss) quoted as saying "Forza Ferrari!" before the F1 season began. Although 3 races in there's not much Forza going on there since Renault is wiping the floor with them, but it sounded cool...

this looks a lot like TOCA Race Driver 2 from what I've seen on video. I hope it's different with customizations actually having an affect on the car... damage is actually reflected... things like that. But the gameplay itself was very very similar.

If this is the best racer XBOX has to offer, I will still buy it... and a wheel to get the full effect.

in that context, it means go team
but "forza" really means "force", or as someone else said "be forceful"

And the laughingstock of every Atari 2600 programmer when it comes to AI- not to mention their horrific nationalistic inspired physics(Vipers understeer on throttle in corners.....). I'm just over 62% complete in GT4 as of now(mainly one make races left to finish up) and they are so far off the mark in so many areas it wouldn't surprise me in the least if they were shown up by any number of developers. They have not made any significant improvements in the game outside of visuals since the original, in fact you could make a strong argument that they have gotten worse recently. Their car roster is a joke, no Porsche, Ferrari or Lambos for us to drive? Yeah I know, they have a few Rufs- but where are the big name heavy hitter street machines? Hey, they do have a variety of Toyota Vitzs to choose from not to mention more Miatas and Evos then you can shake a stick at- so why would anyone want to take an Enzo out on the track?

GT was way ahead of everyone else many years ago. The problem is they haven't done squat except make it look better. Add a photo mode and pull out qualifying? Is this a driving simulator or is this meant for the all show types? GT is on its way out. If not Forza, something else is going to take it down fairly quickly. It is a stale moldy rehash as of this point. I have high hopes that Forza will be the one to do it mainly as it is right around the corner, but we will have to wait and see on that. They already have GT whipped in terms of available cars anyone would want to drive- and it looks like they have a better track lineup then GT also. Judging from the demo they also seem to have much more accurate physics modeling and of course they have the damage factor along with significant customizations available. Obviously we have to wait to get our hands on the final product, but as of now Forza does appear to have everything it needs to lap GT several times before it has to hit the pits for the first set of tires.

I have the demo of Forza that you get if you reserve the game. This game is going to beat the hell out of GT4 and do it with ease.

Assume you did not plan to play Forza online at all(I'm sorry, i am sure its great, but I just can't see paying for Xbox Live)would you still think it is better then GT4? I just bought an xbox since I wanted to mod it, but I have had my PS2 for a while now. I didn't want to get rid fo the PS2, since it had the GTA titles(which I now see so does the Xbox, I knew it had 2 and 3, didn't know they finally got vice city and SanAndreas)as well as MGS(but I assume from the reviews that Splinter Cell would be an acceptable alternative) as well as GT4(but if Forza is as good as it, then great)and finally Final Fantasy. I love the final fantasy games, but I would assume the netx will likely be on the PS3, right? And plus the Xbox has some good RPG's. Right now I am playing morrowind.

So anyways I am considering selling my PS2 and stick with just the Xbox at least until the new consoles come out. Just trying to decide if its worth it.

I will be first to say PS2 is crap compared to XBOX. The only thing it has going for it are the games, and now with Forza coming out, the only thing that PS2 has is the FF series, which I'm glad you are not dependent upon. Get XBOX.

P.S.: Not to hijack, but if you do not want your XBOX DVD for some reason, please let me know before you let it go. Thanks.

Why would I not want my DVD, you mean the drive?

I love the Final Fantasy games, I don't know if I woudl say i am dependant, but I do want to play them, but like I said, I doubt the next one will come out for the PS2, it will likely be a PS3 title. I will probablly wait till after Forza comes out and see how people really think it compares to GT4, or ebtter yet how can you get the demo for it?

Currently for the PS2 I have:GT4, GTA:SA, MGS3, Nascar 2005 Chase for the cup, ESPN NFL 2K5, Ace combat 5(I almost forgot abotu that, I love the AC series, what are some good fighter plane games for Xbox)as well as some other older games, devil may cry, NCAA 2003, Castlevania, hot shots golf, virtua fighter. I think thats it.

That older games I hardly play any more except fro Castlevania, which I just got a few months ago. I am 25% through GT4, GTA:SA I forget how far I am in that, but I actually got bored with it a while back and haven't played it in months. MGS3, I have had since it came out, but have only played it a couple times(I have trouble adjusting to the camera angle, so i prefer to play it without play other games in between), Nascar I like, but only play on occasion, 2K5 is great, but I am waiting for the next season of football games, which means I will be going with Madden i guess.

So how do the Splinter cell games compre to the MGS games?

Yes the drive. You said you were modding, I was just asking.

As far as I know, there are no good arcade fighter games on XBOX, however, if you move over to PC, the Flanker/Lock-On series and Il-2/CFS3 series are all well supported and have tons of mods, however, they are above and beyond Ace Combat in terms of realism (so it might actually be annoying for casual arcade play), and require a good flightstick/throttle/pedal setup (or at least a joystick).

I have not played any of the MGS series, however, Splinter Cell1/1.5 and 3 are great games.

Oh, no I just meant using a mod chip. Although If my drive is one of the crappy ones, I may consider upgrading it.

So what game shsoudl I get for the Xbox?

I already have Halo 2 and Unreal Championship, both of which I suck at, more so Unreal, i am okay at halo, probablly would be better if I actually used my keyboard and mouse. I also just picked up Morrowing GOTY edition. It seems liek a huge great game, but I was disappointed that playing a monk type unarmed unarmored character is practicaly scuicide in this game. I love that type of character so that upset me a bit, but I just went back to my good old rouge.

Edit, I am thinking of heading otu to my local EB games, they are have a deal that ends today, spend 100+ on previously played games and they send you a 25 gift certificate by mail. They also have thier card which costs 5 dollars and gets you 10% off all preplayed stuff for a year. So if I spend 110+5 for the card, i would end up with 110 worth of games for a total cost of 85.00, not too bad. I am thinking o fgetting Thief, NFSU2, I am debating about Burnout 3, I had it for the PS2 and was probablly about finished with it, when my son managed to get a holdof it and break it.
