the car models really are quite insane. i just wish they hadn't pulled a GT5 with the 'autovista' thing...if you're gonna just redo a lot of the same car models, you'd figure they would all have proper interiors and opening doors/lids. i would've excused the recycled car licenses (only reason i can see for not changing a lot of cars out) if all the cars were 'complete.'

for that matter, why the hell can't i drive the old bentley?!?!

I can semi-confirm it. AWD definitely seems more...AWDy..you still take off a little faster, but not nearly as fast as forza 3. They also made some of the big mods (cams, turbos, ect) count for more points on an AWD car...so you can't have a 700hp skyline racing in A class. Definitely feels more balanced.

Yeah, the S4 I tuned up to A class definitely rockets out of corners but I'm finally getting out dragged on straightaways to more HP cars. But then again my first upgrade, because I'm pretty awful at tuning cars, is stripping out all of the weight I can before touching the engine.

GT fanboy here... Forza 4 looks awesome. I just wish there was a decent wheel that I can use with the 360 and PS3. :(

fanatec wheel is your only option for cross compatibility...it is a decent wheel though. if you already have g27 pedals/shifter, it will work with those as well.

Turns out that my earlier rant was unnecessary; all the options for having upgraded vs. non-upgraded opponents and whatnot are all there if I go through the individual races in the events rather than doing the World Tour mode. Silly me. Good to know, but I won't be taking advantage of it any time soon, I reckon.... Having too much fun in the World Tour mode. My Ferrari affinity is netting me some fairly large cash rewards, to the point where racing anything but my Modena (Class A) or my 458 Italia (Class S) seems almost wasteful.

Does it annoy anyone else that it's basically impossible to run a clean race with the AI?

Yes... they love to run into me from behind in the corners

edit:
holy crap, i just got my first 1st place using the fanatec wheel.
a few thoughts:
-it takes a while to get used to. i've had it for 3 days and i still get tripped up on how to respond to some of the feedback.
-The difference between fwd, rwd, and awd cars is immensely apparent when using the wheel. FWD behaves much like my own car. and a high powered rwd car is much harder to control.
-The wheel/pedals + simulation steering gives me a new appreciation for what smashing the gas in a 500hp car would do in real life.
- my arms are TIRED. holding them up in front of me for a few hours really puts the hurt on them.
- heel and toe downshifting is possible and not too difficult. when I get it right, my corners are OH so smooth.
- the load cell brake pedal + abs vibration is amazing. i can drive without abs in game now, once i get used to the specific car i'm running.

Here's a gallery with some pics of the wheel/pedals/shifter/stand:

^ Very nice setup.... especially the CSP.

I thought you lose FF if you use a G25/G27 on the 360?

Don't think I could ever get into racing games again without a nice wheel.

i mean that if you get the fanatec wheel, you can use your existing g27 pedals and shifter with it, if you had a logitech wheel but wanted a cross platform solution.

Where's Blowfish, you need to see his old setup. He built a pseudo-cockpit for his wheel.

i'm sure it was a time constraint...considering for the autovista cars, every damn engine hose is modeled....that takes a solid amount of time per car.

i would love to do that...along with a triple screen forza setup.

so much $$$ though

I made a cockpit setup out of an old exercise bike frame, some aluminum electrical conduit, a junkyard STi seat, a $20 tubing bender, and a hack saw. Its not that hard if you have the room for it.

It's out for delivery (had it shipped to work). Think I'll be going home on time to get it set up tonight.. :awe:

awesome. the only thing that is kind of disappointing about it is the slightly notchy feeling when turning the wheel. curious to see if you feel the same thing.

Gonna have to do it tomorrow :( Forgot about drilling holes so I can hard-mount it, so I'll have to go buy a bit for drilling through metal tomorrow.
