It would be cool, but I imagine you couldn't fit much tire under there, severely limiting handling at the speeds it would hit in B-class.

IIRC you can actually get a decently fat tire on the 916. And the thing is already a featherweight.

I'll have to check it out. FWIW, the Opel Speedster is ~2000 lb lightened and still understeers like a pig with the 225 tire up front & the race tires. I've dialed most of it out, but there's still only so much it can do when you're trying to take a turn at 80mph :D

I suck at tuning myself but the storefront tune I DL'd isn't half bad...that said I don't know how fast it really is. A car that feels fast when racing the computer can be go-kart speed-like when racing against people.

I use a very handy spreadsheet that someone made based on Feuerdog's calculations. It even lets you input tire sizes and gear ratios to calculate gear speeds. The base calculations get me 90% of the way there, which saves me a lot of time. It estimates a bit soft, as the theory is that softer suspension is more compliant and easier to drive at the limit, but you can bias the sway/damper/spring settings up or down by X% if you want.

Then I just duplicate the sheet for each new car as I go tweaking. Once I'm happy with the car I'll save the tune in Forza.

That's most of the fun for me - testing and tuning new cars.

I gotta do some actual in-game racing though - I'm eating up credits buying & upgrading cars for these races! :D

I used the tuning calcs in FM2 but honestly alot of the storefront tunes are just as good and spares me lots of headache.

For example, I tried tuning a car in FM2 for an hour or so and just about gave up on it. I handed it off to Waldo (who used to race with us every week) and in 5 mins he tweaked it into my absolute favorite car in the game (I literally dropped 3 seconds off my lap time at Road Atlanta).

You tuning-savvy types make me sick! :awe:

Damn, I don't know if I'm that good. It takes me a while to get it the way I want - but I race a lot of test drive laps.

Don't the tunes on the storefront cost credits? How much are they?

Yeah, he is a stellar tuner. Not sure where he dissappeared to...he raced FM3 with us a few times as well. Probably off hiding his head in shame after the beating that Georgia Tech took in the tourney (hoping the prodding brings him out!)

As for the tunes in the Storefront some cost cash, some are free. Typically I don't spend more than $5,000 on a tune, usually less. You still have to buy the parts when you apply the tune and you can't tweak it at all if it's not quite right...but I've had pretty good luck myself.

I think a B class 916 would be a riot, I'll prob end up using the Cayman and/or the Lotus

You'll be fine, join in when you can!

Also, I'll say it now to get it out of the way:

For this week if you plan to race please have a headset if at all possible. Last week we had a few issues with people letting someone know they were passing only to be run off the road. We love having fun and racers of all skill levels are welcome (you will get better if you race with us, trust me), but while accidents do happen (usually myself being the cause of them D:) if we can avoid them it's a good thing all around. Nothing ruins your fun like being taken out of a race because someone didn't know you were there and now you're 15 seconds behind the next guy.

We've got a good crew, you new guys as a whole are some durn good/fun/clean racers, lets keep the spirit of Forza night going as strong and fun as ever!!

In my defense I could always hear you guys just mic won't work. Anyway got one of the fancy wireless ones so hopefully prob solved, its charging now.

Wasn't necessarily talking about anyone in particular. No problems at all to anyone, it's a learning process! :D Trust me, I was horrible when I started, but racing as clean as possible makes it more fun for everyone.

Don't get me wrong I wasn't taking it personally or anything. Its just every time I get on it shows I have a headset on the screen and I never respond, don't want you guys to think I'm ignoring you or being a jerk or whatever.............:)

Anyway for those that use storefront tunes do you use certain tuners or is just trial and error?

Trust me, we don't think you're a jerk ():)

As for the tunes usually the tunes from Gearbox are very solid (although often times not the fastest) but lately I've been going with trial and error. Heck, for a $0-$1000 tune why not?

All set for tomorrow. I copped out and just went with a Lotus ... Just Drive it Like a Lotus man!!

It may not be the fastest but its pretty stable.

See you guys tomorrow night

I hate you but don't hate you all at once! Thanks for the compliments. :)

What are the car rules for Wed?

Hey, apparently it works. Mental note: Bashing Georgia Tech brings the Waldo out! :D Great to see you, we've missed both your racing and tuning talent my friend! Hrm, maybe if we verbally throttle Clemson OSJ would come back early!

My own take on Gandalph: "The fellowship is unbreaking!"

blowfish has it right, only rules are B class MR cars.

Hope to see you tomorrow night!

Pretty much the same for me. I actually had a little game time last night and found that I already had a B class lotus in my garage. I might try messing around with something else but more than likely will just use it.

Mid engine eh?

So front mid engine too amirite? That's kind of difficult to verify though. I just thought of my S2000 ;)

Methinks he means traditional "behind the cabin" MR but he'll have to verify.

That would kill the 370Z, Z06s, S2000s, etc :p
