Forza 2 Game Night: Take 2 (now preparing for Take 3)

For next week (the 6th), we will be running some specific events that will require some planning ahead for everyone, and we are still open for any other ideas.

1. muscle car race
we will be racing muscle cars we have purchased and upgraded to C class.
2. backwards race again?
this didnt work out last week because no one knew what was going on. one person goes around the course like normal, and everyone else turns around and drives the opposite way and tries to stop them from crossing the finish line.
3. Saturn Ion race?

Last week's forza night was a ton of fun, so I think we should see if we can make it somewhat reoccurring. Is Wednesday night @ 9PM still good for everyone?

Also, last week was a little unorganized, not bad enough to cause problems, but I think this week we should think of specific races/classes/etc that we want to do.

One idea I had was to get everyone on Nissan Speedway (the big oval track) and have one person go the right way around, and everyone else go the wrong way. The objective for the single person would be to see how fast they could get across the finish line, while everyone else tries to keep them from getting there. We could take turns and see who does it the fastest.

Any other ideas? Anyone that didn't make it last time and wants to come this time please post your gamertag so we can add you and invite you when we start.
 
I'm in, but I'm much more for straight up racing. I'm not a fan of the whole "going backwards for wrecks" idea, but if it's two races out of twenty, I'll take one for the team and I don't need a turn.

What I'm hoping for are longer races and full 8 man rooms so that they're actually worth some $$$ in the game's credit system. Maybe more stock races where we all pick the exact same car so that it comes down to driving skill. One of the most fun races I've been a part of was an hour long endurance race where we all picked the same R1 car and went on the Nissan Speedway for ~80 laps with pitting and everything. I don't expect enough of you guys would want to do the same, but maybe 10 or 15 lap version would be acceptable (lap times are under a minute).
 
Well I'll try and make this one, didn't make the last one unfortunately. I'll probably be putting in a join request during a race though as I leave work at 7 pm (9 pm eastern) it takes about 15-20 min to get home.
 
Yeah we certainly don't have to do funny races all the time, that was just something I thought of today. Post up some suggestions like... laguna seca, a class, 8 laps, simulation tires (or something like that).
 
I am with CKDragon. Straight up racing is much more fun. Endurance or quick 3 lappers, doesn't really matter to me. I love Forza! Maybe I'll get some practice in tonight. 😀

That was fun. We had a full room for a few races and then everyone disappeared at about the same time. Will have to bust out the steering wheel for next week's event. After I knock the dust off it of course.

Yea, in the race before I left we had a couple non-ATers in there trying to one-up each other talking about how they have 300-1000 hours into the game and how there's a 120 hour learning curve to use the wheel properly, this and that... bleh. I have a lot of fun with you guys, but I have a really low tolerance for dealing with random people on Live.

Plus, I ran superjohnyo off the track twice in that last race and figured I better get out of there before I piss more people off. 😛

It was fun. I'll be back next week.
 
i had to leave becuase it just became to laggy for me. cars jumping all over the place. couldnt stand it. maybe better luck next time.

Yup, those guys sure sucked the fun out of the room.

One of the main ones will be everyone getting a muscle car and tuning it to a specific class (not decided yet) and we will all race those for several races. If you have any ideas, go ahead and post them now so we can iron them out before next week. I will put anything we have in the first post to keep track.

For the muscle car, perhaps one of the regulars that isn't already far in the career mode can tell us a particular model (Corvette/Mustang/whatever) that is unlocked early on or by default so that we can all participate.

Heh, I was mostly kidding since I drive a crappy 2002 Saturn SC2. But that would certainly fulfill any low-end races we wanted to try.
 
well since we haven't heard anything i guess we will just go with C class for the muscle cars, that way people that have just started can buy a car and just put a few upgrades on there.
 
Now the Forza 2 dlc car packs do have some muscle cars in them, are they going to be valid for these races? I actually just got the packs, so I don't know how fast they are, although I do remember seeing them in D class, so they shouldn't be too off the mark.
 
If anyone needs a muscle car just send me a PM with your GT and what you are looking for. I can buy/gift them to you tonight.

C Class muscle cars should be fun. Its hard to get a balance of power/handling. Just remember, 1000hp does you no good if you can't put it to the ground! 😀
