Question for everyone, what do you all sit on when racing? Recliner, couch, gaming chair? Typically I'm on the sofa which is alright but when using a wheel and pedals it's...odd.

Reason I'm asking is because (this is gonna shoot my geek rating through the roof...) I happend to be browsing on Amazon and saw one of the Playseat Gameseats or whatever they're called and thought "holy crap that would be fun!"

Just the couch with the wheel in my lap. There have been a few mishaps because I put the wheel on the table when were in the lobby.

1) Throttle got stuck during race (cable kept it pressed down)
2) People start the race when I'm not even sitting
3) Personal favorite - just as the race was getting read to start I had to grab my wheel and slam on the gas. I hit the left paddle shifter - full speed start in reverse.
 
That's typically how I used my wheel, but I dunno. That racing seat just looks so cool 😛 Probably not $250 cool though.

I sorta sink into the middle of our couch when we race.
 
I kick it in my recliner with my feet up. I obviously use a controller 😛 I was skeptical of the controller at first but now that I'm used to it, I think I'm competitive with the controller and don't feel the need to get a wheel.
 
I've been playing on the 360 in my loft/office more recently so I've been sitting in my office chair. I should probably move back downstairs where I can sit on my couch and play on a bigger screen.
 
That's cool as crap blowfish!!! How do you like it so far? What's the benefit of the 360 adapter plate (I saw one on ebay but it didn't really explain what it did)? How well does the wheel attach without it? What's the slider thingy you also ordered?

My TV's on a stand so it's lower to the ground, don't think I'd need to raise the seat.

Anyways, that's awesome.

On another note I just won a 1600 point card on ebay, debating on if I should get one or two of the car packs or just skip 'em. I've already got 1200 points on my account. Did a quick check on the forums and it seems like the most recent pack is the "weakest" of the three with the F50 and the Lancer Evo X being the only good cars. $20 says the next pack has the new Nissan GT-R (I'm amazed its not in the game yet, figured fans would be screaming for it).

Also considering *ghasp* changing my gamertag. If I do I'm thinking I might let people suggest names and then have a poll to vote on my new GT 😛 You know, be different for once.

The wheel is actually slower anyway 😛 I know in PGR it added like 3 seconds to my lap times - I've only played Forza with the wheel though.

I've got a wheel for my PC and I almost prefer the controller. I like being able to snap from left to right very quickly if needed. That's hard to do with the wheel. I also really like being able to sit out in my living room and not at my computer desk. Granted, the MS wheel can sit on your lap. Personally, I think that'd be really uncomfortable and awkward.
 
I know I'm faster with the controller but I think the games so much more fun with the wheel. I've just gotta get a new wheel maw, I've just gotta!!!

Heh, Open3rdEye and I had a lousy start to the first C&M game so I just stayed at the front of the pack and tried to beat up on whichever mouse was in the front. The closing speed of my Lamborghini on the mouse cars made it a fun job.

And CK's flowery car that once again lowers his masculinity rating a few more points.

Yeeaaahh...I kinda blame the first game's mishaps on me not understanding what the hell I was supposed to do. 🙂 Second game went a bit better...except for that one (or maybe two?) times I hit you doing well over 170...oops!

Nobody's going to want to be my partner anymore....🙁

I haven't got the paint job poll up yet this week. Sorry about that guys. I didn't even get on my PC last night and got on my 360 long enough to play a bit of Assault Heroes with my son. I'll try to get it up tonight.

Actually I like it a lot. It takes the whole driving experience up another notch.

Since those pics I have:

-Built a stand for the TV
-Built a platform for the seat so its about 12-14" off the gorund (much easier to get in and out and it gives me a place for all the gear)
-Cleaned up all the cables and what not so they are no longer in the way
-Attached the seat slider and XBOX 360 wheel adapter plate

I still need to paint it all and figure out a good way to mount the surround speakers (they are on stands at the moment and kind of in the way) but other than I am really quite pleased with everything.

Adapter plate -- this is so that you can mount the wheel directly to the support. It sucks that you have to buy another piece of hardware for this but w/o it the wheel will not stay put very well.

Seat Slider -- works just like your seats in your car. Lift the handle and the seat can be moved up or back as needed. Probably not 100% necessary since the whole frame easily adjusts but I put it on anyway.

If you are interested in the seat the Evolution series is the one to get and Amazon occasionally has a deal on it.

I "fixed" my freezing problem by going out and buying an Elite -- they're shipping me a box to send in for repairs and I don't want any downtime. Once it gets back, I'll just give it to a friend who wants one for the Media Center capability.

Just 3 more endurance races to finish...

If any of you guys see me on, feel free to invite me in for a few laps!

Heh, showed the wife the picture of the seat blowfish and she pretty much laughed and said "$250, in your dreams" or something to that effect. I'd be amazing but I've gotta agree with her, at that price it's a bit over my budget.

Did find this one on ebay though. Doesn't look nearly as cool/awesome/sturdy/well built as the playseat but in a pinch it might work. We'll see. If you happen to get bored of your setup feel free to mail/hand deliver it to me 🙂

Gonna have to order a new wheel first though.

BTW, anyone interested in getting some MS marketplace points, I got a 1600 point card code for $18 (usually $21+) off of this guy and the valid code was emailed to me within 10 minutes or so. Went to xbox.com and just copied and pasted and voila. I'm thinking about getting another one...

Oh twould be fun! If only I had room/money (living in an apartment doesn't allow for giant...apparati (is that the plural form of apparatus?)

Bought another 1600 point card, so I've got some points to burn. What car pack(s) are the best blowfish? Are the Motegi and Road America tracks worth a purcahse (RA is only 100 points I believe, but Motegi is 400).
 
I bought and upgraded a Mini to A850 the other day. It hasn't been tuned but I could post the specs and the results of a tuning calculator. It wasn't bad with stock tuning so with actual tuning, it could be a fun little car. I can try to post that when I get home tonight.

I think 4300 pounds for heavyweights may be a bit high. I looked at the heavyweights series and the restrictions there are 3850 and there's not that many cars that are more than that (I'm looking at you, Mr. Continental GT, you big fatty). I think we should just go with the restrictions of the actual series, or maybe a touch higher but not 4300.

Ya I just picked 4300 kind of at random, not really remembering what the heavyweight limit was in the career, I think you're right its at 3850.

The cars I can remember off the top of my head that weigh around that much:

Vanquish (Aston Martin)
Continental GT (Bentley)
613 Scagaletti (Ferrari)
Charger '07 (Chevy)
CLK55 (Mercedes)
CTS (Cadillac)
R6S (Audi)
 
Works for me OSJ. If everyone else is cool with it than post her up and lets go from there.

Heavyweights -- not sure where I got the 4300 number from (did someone post that here 😕) but I think if the series is 3850 limit than that makes sense to go with that spec. Should we do any heavyweight car as long as its over 3850 and everyone spec/tune as they want or should be just pick a car for all of us??
