Good racing last night. I was a little distracted by daughter trying to play in my lap for most of the night so I'm sorry for any bumpage.

I had to cut out early though because my wife was cleaning up and giving me the "Why am I cleaning up for your sister and nephew coming into town while you sit there and play video games" look. 🙂 I'll try to get the custom paint job poll up later tonight.

As for the car for next week....what about going with an older (60s/70s) muscle car? That's a direction we haven't tried yet.

Thanks! I had a ton of fun last night (that was the first time I've ever played Forza multiplayer). Thanks for Spidey for the quick tips (course, he had to sit still for 20 seconds to let me catch up 😛 ) and to everyone for being so welcoming. And sorry to everyone I spun out, a byproduct of me starting 1st and ending last every race.

I've definately got alot to learn about digital racing, especially Forza. I've got PGR4 as well...where the cars have nearly endless traction and you can powerslide a motorcycle. You've actually gotta work on lines and braking points on Forza...which I can't handle yet.

Course, I remembered last night why I sold Forza...the auction house utterly consumes me. I remember stretches of several hours where I'd sit and bid on cars. No more, I must resist!

Hope to keep racing with you all, thanks again!!

-Chris

P.S....for those of you who can't say "Tyreal"...neither can I. I couldn't think up a name so I just made one up...so...just say whatever. Ty, Tyreal, or my personal favorite thus far..."F*** you Tyrone!"

P.P.S. I'd like to nominate next week's car as either a Porsche 911 or a Subaru WRX STi (04 or 05). I've got a few '04's I can gift out if anyone needs one, and I remember someone saying he wished we were using a Subaru. Bought like 5 of them yesterday since the wife and I bought a WRX 2 weeks ago...gotta have my real car as the game car the same 🙂

P.P.P.S. Can anyone give me a really quick summary of how to design the cars? Do you do it on your computer or on the Xbox itself? Confused...

Ah hah .. that's what the little kid noise was last night. I thought I was hearing things again.

No worries Queasy if my wife wasn't so cool about this she would be giving me that look every week too. My big thing is that on Wed when I get home I bust a$$ and do everything I can to help out -- pack the kids lunches, feed the dog/cat, feed the turtles, feed the fish, cook dinner (or bring home dinner), do the dishes -- that leaves her with baths for the kids and picking out their clothes and ironing them. As long as that's all I leave her she never complains and actually likes to cheer me on a bit (and then laugh when I spin out again).

I think a well tuned muscle car would be good too.

How about the 69 Dodge Charger or the 66 Pontiac GTO Hardtop??

I kept trying to remember where I'd actually heard "Tyreal" before then it hit me. Isn't that the archangel in Diablo/Diablo 2? Anyways, I say it Tear-e-el if it is right or wrong I'm not sure either. 😉

Muscle car would be fun. Any other suggestions for this era?

The Subaru guy was me Tyreal, but I can live without doing a night of all Subarus. I still have mixed feelings about the Lotus as the night went on like other folks I was able to handle the car better. But it is very unforgiving if you make one slip up you're likely to lose control. For a car next week I'd be up for an old school muscle car, sounds like fun.

You do it on the 360. Just go into the garage, select your car, and select the 'paint car' option. From there, you'll find the options to paint the whole car and apply decals (designs).

Tutorials - here, here, here. Just google "forza 2 paint tutorial" or "forza 2 painting guide" and you'll find a ton of links.

(I'm not sure about the in-game availability of these cars)
1967 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray 427
1965 Shelby Cobra 427 S/C
1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429
1968 Chrysler Plymouth Barracuda Formula-S

Ok correct me if I am wrong but I think this is the muscle car list from Forza 2

1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z28
1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS Coupe
1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS-454
1967 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray 427
1970 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1
1968 Chrysler Plymouth Barracuda Formula-S
1969 Dodge Charger R/T-SE
1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429
1968 Pontiac GTO Hardtop
1968 Shelby Mustang GT-500KR
1965 Shelby Cobra 427 S/C

Does this look right??

Greg

Muscle cars sounds like a great idea to me. I might suggest that we don't upgrade them to A (and maybe not B, either, for that matter, but that might be okay) class since they'd be pretty hard to drive. If we want A class, though, I'm willing to take the time to get comfortable driving it. Like I said, I'm just along for the ride and will be happy with whatever you guys want.

After perusing "that other forum" it looks like the Z28 is the easiest to handle and then the ZR-1. This is due to their smaller engines in comparison to the other muscle cars. Also as OSJ said stay out of A Class seems to be a common thread as well.

Best tire compound, widest tire, and keeping HP to weight ratio above .10 seem to be common comments I have read so far.

Oh and everyone says the 65 cobra is really hard to handle.

Greg

If it's a muscle car era I'd vote for the Cobra 427 as well.

*edit* nvm, as an acredited "noob" I'll just go with whatever you all pick since I have no idea how most of the cars handle (and it doesn't matter what we pick as I'll still be coming in last ^^)

I think either the Z28 or ZR-1 would be fine.

It would be kind of fun to see how everyone could handle something like a GTO though. 🙂

<flashes back to running blowfish and Guuts off the road>

...

Or maybe not! 😉

I believe I have a Z28 somewhat tuned up - maybe even to A or beyond, I can't remember. It's been a while, but I don't recall it being particularly obnoxious to drive. I'd go for a C550 or B700 Z28.

I think the Stingray appears on quite a few leaderboards, too, if we want to go that route.

Alright well I'll step and say lets do the Z28 say in the B700 class as OSJ suggested.

I'll volunteer to start going over the boards and see about a upgrades and tuning later tonight as I don't mind putting in the effort it's just that I don't have the knowledge on this stuff. Hopefully I can pilfer enough setup info from other Z28 users.

Does that work for everyone?? LMK and I can work on it tonight.

Greg

You know what, I can't believe that I live near Road Atlanta and haven't taken the time to go up there to visit.

I'm going to have make the time and go to one of the upcoming events.

Sounds good to me! Quick question for you, what are the class dividers? I know S is 998 max and A is 850 max, what's below that though??

I think I already have a Z28, not positive though.

The classes are D400, C550, B700, A850, S998, U999, and then R4 through R1.

I'll work on a B700 Z28 tonight if I've got time. I'm not half the mechanic Waldo is but I'll see what I can come up with and then we can all compare notes and see what we think will be best.

I live about 15 minutes from Barber Motorsports Park here in Birmingham. Phenominal facility, you oughta make a trip over here. AMA Superbike races are at the end of April (18th-20th). I'm doing a motorcycle track day there the 22nd as well. Mr. Barber won't release the rights to put the track in video games (apparently it was in a game back in the mid 90's but that's it).

Never been to Road Atlanta either but I'd love to visit sometime. I hear the turns near the tower are a bit trecherous if you get off the line though.

Yeah, I need to get out to some of the tracks around here. I'm an hour south of Daytona and just over 2 hours from Sebring. Would love to go to the 24 hour race at Daytona or the 12 hours at Sebring (which was like two weeks ago, maybe next year).

That's a long time to watch a race...I almost conked out after a 4 hour motorcycle endurance race...can't imagine a 12 hour race of any sort (I suppose stock car races are longish, but I hate NASCAR...never watched a full race before).

Yeah, my Dad loves NASCAR racing. He actually worked for his brother at a shop outside of Birmingham on stock cars for a couple of years. My cousin races short track now.

Me, I just can't sit down and watch the stuff. I take directly after my Dad except when it comes to liking cars and NASCAR.

Hey, I don't remember if you were at our first muscle car night, Queasy, but I actually did pretty well! CK probably remembers, everyone was quite surprised, hehe. (My first car, which I still have, was a '65 Mustang, so I'm used to wrestling with a muscle car)

And speaking of tracks, I would go to Laguna Seca 2-3 times a year for races when I was younger, probably 15 years of that. Back then, you could camp in the infield, which we used to do. We usually spectated at "the corkscrew" because it had shade (Laguna Seca ,"Dry Lake", isn't that dry-looking as it looks in Forza 2 most of the year...but for summer races it really is very hot, dry, and dusty...though I can remember a few rainy weekends when all that dirt turned to lots and lots of mud...)...uh..where was I? Oh, the corkscrew! Also because there were ALWAYS lots of action at that turn, hehe. You know what I'm talking about.

havent played in a little while, i would like to join up, although I only race the lower classes, never got up to the big leagues very much
