Is there any free fourms software that I could load onto my server 2008 server? Would like to setup a fourm for an online game I play, so that the members in my group, we can keep in touch when were not logon and for event notices and stuff

I rather like Vanilla forums. It's a little spartan, but the layout is nice for a lower traffic setup. Check out http://snuffhouse.org/ to see it in action.

thanks I got my web fourms setup on my server, using snizfourm 2000. when people go to my website, they need to put in https://mydomainname/fourm/blahblah... how do I set it up so they dont need to se https to log on?

I don't know anything about that kind of thing. Maybe set the site up as unsecured?

i found the the option to fix the https issue, had to remove require ssl. Now the next problem im having, if people try to go to my webpage, it asking for windows login permission. For this page, i just want it so they dont have to enter information to be able to access the webpage, i enable anonymous authentication and disable windows authenication, but im still getting the following error:


401 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to invalid credentials.
You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied.

also tried disabling anonymous authentication, but still get that error. this is on server 2008 standard edition

Try poking around in the permissions area of Server 2k8(wherever that is). I don't know anything about running a server. I started setting up a Linux server, and got bored and quit :^D

If you do screw around with your permissions, make sure you don't set yourself up to get pwned. You might be able to find a decent tutorial online.
