Same problem here. Firefox sits there seemingly forever, trying to reach tracker.anandtech.com. Eventually it stops -- probably when the request times out.

I've temporarily worked around this by updating my hosts file to redirect tracker.anandtech.com to 127.0.0.1.

What you guys trackin in there anyway?

Blocked and all is well...

How do I go about blocking it? Between the tracker and the cookies issue that I can't seem to figure out, the forum is rapidly approaching the point of being useless. It's really hard to follow threads when I can't tell if there are new posts.

I use the DoNotTrackMe Add-on for Firefox. Love It! Right now it is blocking Google Analytics and Quantcast.

BTW, I am seeing the same issue.

There are a couple of other anti Google add-ons too. No Google Analytics, Google Privacy,..

EDIT: actually I just tried DoNotTrackMe and I couldn't open the options and i kept getting popups.. seems like a fishy add-on

I went into the customize tab of addblock and added tracker.anandtech.com. It worked.

Now if I could just get cookies to update...

Hmm, that's strange. Works fine for me on three installations. I actually turned off Google Analytics since DoNotTrackMe blocks those anyway.

Good idea Greenman.

does this explain when i'm reading a thread on this forum the page will automatically scroll to the bottom or some random place in the thread?

That's a problem I haven't come across. For me, whatever tells my browser that there are new posts in a thread, or new threads (I assume that would be cookies), doesn't work. If I log out and back in, everything is flagged as read.

I'll check an RSS feed, click on the link, the page will open, then sometimes up to 20 seconds later the page will scroll to some random place in the page.

yes it does that for me too right now because there might be something on the page that makes it hang for few seconds.

anandtech forums has always had random issues with with tracker. also from time to time those little skype icons under the avatars will hang a page for 15-20 seconds.

it seems silly that tech site cant get the issue resolved any better or faster.

Skype icons? Those are probably coming from a browser plug-in that "sneaked in" when you installed Skype. Check your plug-ins list and disable anything referencing Skype. You can always re-enable them later if you wish.

I have this same issue, both at home and at work. The status stays at "connecting to tracker.anandtech.com" and it takes a long time to complete loading (even though the page is fully updated)

Same here, it's annoying.

It should be fixed now. But if anyone else is still having issues, please say so.

still doing the exact same thing for me

EDIT: actually its more intermittent now

when it does it, it now says waiting for tracker like others said earlier. before it used to just say sending request for me.
